tim's not that far off on his assumption there, no. for the most part it's becoming a lot more accepted, especially in younger generations. he ain't saying the rest of the nation is like nyc, just that they aren't as bigoted as people think more or less. though that gets into a matter of what a bigot is, if there are levels to it (and to what degree they go), etc. but cities in general, not just new york, are heavily more favorable to minority groups, and an huge chunk of the population lives in cities.

TimJab seems to think that homophobia is as rare and socially unacceptable as racism. It is getting there, especially with the younger generation, but we still have a long way to go. And you nailed the point that levels of bigotry matter. Just because extreme bigots are getting rare doesn't mean that moderate bigots aren't still fairly common. Not everyone that is a homophobe goes out of their way to trash gays every chance they get. But once the subject comes up it's clear that they are far from accepting of them.

There are tons of people that still express hatred while stopping short of violence. There are many more who profess not to hate gays but will still try to convince them that they weren't born that way, that homosexuality is a sin and they need to pray to Jesus to turn them straight. Are these people a majority? Not any more, but they are not nearly the insignificant minority you make them out to be. You really need to get outside of your little bubble sometime and see what the rest of the country is like. Believe it or not, the US is a lot bigger than New York City. :/

Prices had been shooting to the moon with no end in sight. Clearly this was never going to end, because buyers could afford to buy houses at drastically increasing prices forever.

Literally everyone was talking about "investing" in housing, and they were treating it like a get rich quick scheme. "When your grocery bagger is giving you stock advice, it's time to get out of the market." That's how bad housing was.

If you bought in near the beginning of the bubble, you might be able to claim it wasn't obvious yet. At the same time, you would be losing a lot then people coming in later.

The Tusken scene is important as it contains the introduction of a principal character in the OT. But yeah, it's still less of a big deal than the climax of the story.

I don't really consider Obi-Wan's introduction to start until he gets back to his hut with Luke and the droids.

I'm not sure we actually have seen his upper bound to be honest. As far as I know, putting Q in wouldn't be much different from putting in Cthulu Mythos Gods or Wilhelm from Xenosaga. If someone can actually quote specific upper limits to his powers I'd be fine with it, but the only limit I know of personally is other Qs.

How exactly do you actually defeat Q? "Out thinking him" is just how Picard (and occasionally others) impress him and make him decide to leave, he doesn't really lose anything and I don't recall there ever being indications on how to actually fight a Q successfully.

The Doctor could talk the entire Q Continuum into ending their own existence.

I'm not really sure what anyone else could do in a "fight" though....

And he got his redemption in the end.


I honestly think it's just the "residual self-image" thing from the Matrix. I think that was how Anakin still saw himself. At no point in his existence did he look like Sebastian Shaw, even if you took him out of the suit.

5000 for every GreatBird in the sea around solitary island. The N-Zone
and Phoenix Tower are decently profitable as well.
