Regarding OJ, I wasn't old enough in 1995 to have an opinion about this, but I feel like it's generally a bad idea to think that you know better than the jury based on what you've seen reported by the media. Like, if you've seen a few minutes or hours of curated info, why would you know better than the jury who's heard all the evidence over months?

I assume they are innocent in this case. If, as a result of a plea bargain, someone is convicted of a minor charge and given a light sentence after being charged with a serious crime, I also generally assume they are probably innocent.

They will do away with the boards soon enough. The content (FAQs and walkthroughs) are the only things worth anything to them. The message boards are like comments on a blog post, nobody really reads them. This is a wake up call.

Unless GameFAQs changed the terms by which users submit content at some point, they don't own the content. The copyright belongs to the contributor.

Does this mean no more Redsox polls

Sadly, it looks like the end of the line for these polls.

Money is very overrated in terms of presidential campaigns. Everyone has already heard of both Trump and Biden; throwing an extra $500 million at campaigning just doesn't move the needle much.

Oh wow somehow I forgot about including Climate Change. But I'm not sure what it would have displaced on the poll. I guess I could have combined War and Foreign Policy into one option.

What does this do to the plenary authority argument?

If the delegate system supposedly allows states to decide their votes for president however they individually want at the end of the day (they don't even need to hold a vote or respect the vote), then why would the federal government be able to decide what they have on their ballots like this? Is that argument in shambles or does this not interact with it somehow?

I'd imagine it would end up being similar to the plenary authority an employer has to fire an employee - you don't need a reason, and you can do it for any reason EXCEPT one of the prohibited reasons stated in the Civil Rights Act or similar legislation.

I don't think this is very well thought out. Suppose Congress responds to this by passing a new law to create a Congressional Commission on Disqualification, to be filled entirely with political appointees. Then the Commission start disqualifying anyone from the other party they don't want to run. This is clearly a worse result than many states doing this because this can functionally end democracy in one blow.

Expected. Not a big fan of the rationale but I don't really see anything better they could have done.

Unless the claim is that Gen X is going to be skipped over? As in, the crown for richest generation would pass directly from Baby Boomers to Millennials without Gen X spending any time in the #1 spot? I suspect that's possible if measured in total assets because the Baby Boomer and Millennial generations have significantly more total people in them than Gen X. But it would still be surprising to me.

In general, every successive generation becomes the richest generation in history. But not until they are in the 50s/60s age range, and that is becoming later. So millennials becoming the richest generation in history at some point is about as surprising as real estate and stocks being higher than they were 30 years ago - i.e. not surprising at all.

I think there's a very good chance they give him immunity just based on the math of the court. Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett are Trump appointees and Clarence Thomas is Clarence Thomas, so really it just comes down to Roberts and Alito. I think Roberts probably sides with the liberals on this but I can't even be sure of that, and I'd give better than even odds Alito votes for immunity, even if it's in a very limited "Trump has immunity but no other president does or will and this does not set precedent" kind of way.

Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett are not voting to give presidents immunity. I think this is probably a 9-0 decision, but if it's not, only Thomas and Alito have any real chance of jumping through the mental hoops necessary to carve out an exception for Trump.

Wait, was abortion illegal in the UK before this?

In the US, we have many laws that are on the books but are never enforced because everyone understands that they are unconstitutional. However, in the UK there is no written constitution and I thought the courts are not empowered to strike down any act of Parliament as unconstitutional. So if there was an act of Parliament prohibiting abortion and it hasn't been repealed then it would be in force - am I missing something?

For purposes of this poll:

Obamacare is what it is now.

Trumpcare is exactly the same as Obamacare, except with Trump's name on it, and it doesn't cover abortions or any other treatment Trump would not approve of. It would cost marginally less than Obamacare because of that (but the vast majority of the cost savings will go to insurance companies or the rich).

Hillarycare is what Hillary proposed in the 90s.
