I understand that the poll options are quite restrictive, but I intentionallty wrote them that way. I'd like to see which way the board leans in general.

Without a specific reason to believe otherwise, I think someone found not guilty is entitled to being considered not guilty.

I'm assuming this was inspired by OJ Simpson, but maybe the timing is coincidental.

Assume they're innocent most of the time

OJ probably did it tho

Dismissed I assume they completed probation or some pre trial program

not guilty I assume they did not do it

I was thinking it was Trump, given that his first criminal trial is set to begin tomorrow.

This.

But assuming the ambiguity is the point I'll say "not guilty." White collar crime lmao guilty though.
May you find your book in this place.

Not guilty, 100% innocent.

Dismissed, neutral opinion, but generally believe they're innocent.

This, of course, doesn't apply to high-profile cases.

It's Reyn Time.
I mean, as a hypothetical completely devoid of context Im going with the first option.

But for me at least, this has no bearing on reality because I always take this on a case by case basis.

OJ definitely compelled me to make this topic here, but I made a similar topic on CE like a year ago, and the results were practically reversed. The voters there are much more likely to believe accusations regardless of the outcome in the justice system, so I wanted to see how B8 felt.

Assume not guilty but trend harder and harder towards guilty the more money they have
No problem!

OJ had a lot of money so guilty

Yeah, not guilty is the first thought process because it's not that rare to get facts or details wrong; if there's reasonable doubt, then it should be considered that the claimed facts are wrong too.

In general, of course.

Yeah I'm pleasantly surprised by the results here (though B8 has a solid track record on stuff like this so maybe surprised is the wrong word). I feel like most people I talk to IRL assume people are guilty if they're so much as stopped by police, much less arrested and put on trial.

this isn't something I would give a broad yes or no to, disagreeing with a verdict is fine but is uhhhhh pretty strongly tied to the facts of the matter?

but you're not gonna have me answer that my loved ones weren't raped just because the legal system failed them

I assume they are innocent in this case. If, as a result of a plea bargain, someone is convicted of a minor charge and given a light sentence after being charged with a serious crime, I also generally assume they are probably innocent.

Regarding OJ, I wasn't old enough in 1995 to have an opinion about this, but I feel like it's generally a bad idea to think that you know better than the jury based on what you've seen reported by the media. Like, if you've seen a few minutes or hours of curated info, why would you know better than the jury who's heard all the evidence over months?
