Everybody gets Seeker's Soul before they know what the deal with it is.

I think you're referring to the High Halls gauntlet? You can find it before you even fight Twin Dancers.

There are some things that can mitigate that, if you want to know.

I actually first tried Shakra BUT it was my second playthrough, I was as strong as possible, and still was one hit away I think.

My problem with Groal himself is he would just float on the opposite side of the screen doing nothing until I lost patience and then just unceremoniously adjust into me the second I move in. So many attempts got derailed by that. I actually prefer once he gets his additional attack cause it improves the flow of the fight a lot.

That said on my second playthrough that wasn't really an issue? Dunno if that was me knowing better or actual patches to his behavior. I also had the wreath but never fell in the water with it.

7

Neat but wears thin pretty fast. 7 might be generous but I kinda like that something like it exists at all.

It's the same as the charm you get from banishing the phantom troupe in the first HK.

Although considerably worse odds. In fact if it were a Blue Tool I'd call it worthless at its odds, but absolutely worth it at HK odds.

My play times are worthless if it counts while it's paused, which I think at least one version of pausing does.

Ascendant's Grip is good but MMX long ago trained me how to wall jump stall. It's pretty autonomous for me.

I mean Sprint Shoes and pre-clearing is very much not needed. It's a much more generous timer than you're making it out to be.

I only failed late in it when I got lost at the end and ran into enemies I should have never seen. The biggest hit risks are at the start.

The full trophies speedrun of this game is actually a lot faster than Hollow Knight because it does not require more than one playthrough. Of course no one will actually do Steel Soul or a speedrun their first time.

Also I'd say it's pretty understandable to not give a Metroidvania NG+. That's a lot of new scenarios for progression that can add a lot of problems. That or you carry over so little it's worthless.

It took a long time for me to realize that a lot of these people were absolutely serious, and not just...I don't know. I'm confused as to what I actually believed in the first place.

I mean on that side of it you have MTG. Like still a huge POS but they start breaking the MAGA line like it's nothing once that's what they think will keep them afloat. And you're gonna start seeing more people act like her over the next year.

also both sides are melting down after yesterday apparently. /r/democrats has a "No posting about democratic socialists" rule, which apparently applies even for Democrats like Mamdani who won democratic primaries and ran on democratic tickets. You get autobanned for posting about probably the most talked about person in the country today.

the old guard would rather lose every election instead of actually courting the people and policies that their target demographic wants

I will say that the Skong Twitter has mostly been pretty good (since release) from what I've seen.

E33 has been year 1 TLOU1 discourse all over again and KCD2 looks like a dating sim by how they post, so maybe my bar is just really low.

More or less the same. I was constantly at max. I would occasionally try to make conscious effort to use them and still not do it.

I definitely used them for High Halls but I did that early.

I wonder what the overlap is between players who got stuck in this way and players who didn't do the Slab escape sequence. Probably pretty big. The Slab feels like where the game is tutorializing the freezing mechanic

While I did the escape sequence, I ran through the outside top section so fast that I didn't realize what was going on.

I walked away after the first week, kinda annoyed at how everything in the game seemed like it was designed to frustrate. I've heard that the game tends to get better in that regard, but I'm not sure if/when I should give the game a second try. Any words of wisdom?

You don't get instant damage so it's obvious, unlike Metroid's hot rooms

Except the first time you arrive you likely can't get far enough to even try. If you arrive with Clawline it's a different story.

Maelle should've been the main character after Act 1
I mean she was getting as much focus as Verso. Hell, from the point you get her back in Act 1 she's clearly more central to the plot than Gustave or the rest.

Right, sociopathic. If a sibling was about to undergo a traumatic subjective lifetime with a corresponding memory wipe I think I'd be a bit more concerned!
Tbf at that point I think there's nothing Clea could have done anyway. Not to say she isn't worse than that in every other context we see her, though. Or that I disagree even with you period. Just considering the context.

Why would Alicia not commit suicide in the Verso ending?

I mean it's a huge assumption to call that a certainty when we literally see her in the Verso ending quite alive at real Verso's funeral.

Better question: Why would Renoir even care if they just age out of the painting just fine? His whole motivation is that they will deteriorate and die. It's the literal reason for the narrative conflict period.

I feel like if this game came out in the days of video game rentals I'd have tried it but I'm not gonna buy it nor am I gonna care enough to play it through other completely legitimate means so yeah.

But I mean it's a volleyball game how bad can it be really.

6th Gen was firmly still in the rental era. Blockbuster didn't file for bankruptcy until 2010.

Now, how many rental places stocked this? That I don't know.

Yeah it's quite possible if you solved it after the AWS issues started it just didn't store it. I did it early but I checked after the issues started (I never remember if I do it before I go to sleep) and couldn't log back in for quite a while.

Scuttlebrace is probably useful if you know how to use it, but I never bothered

It's no faster than the initial dash, slower than the sprint, and input-wise it's no more convenient. Strangely, it's only use case might be wall climbing, but even that I'm not sure is faster than jumping.

Magnetite Dice for sure

Weighted Belt maybe

Ascendant's Grip can occasionally help in fights if that's your jam

You get one that increases held tools instead of Dead Bug's Purse on Steel Soul, but I got a bit annoyed with it because you recraft the extras any time you switch tools or crests, which really sucks for Lifeblood

Barbed Bracelet if you're deranged

To duel Garmond and Zaza, you need to find them on the Choral Chambers (and probably talk to them, then find them again in the Whispering Vaults before you get all three melodies.

Is it before the Melodies? I thought the only relevance to before the melodies is getting his help for the High Halls gauntlet, which also applies to (and is overridden by) the Shakra duel.
