5-3 scores pretty highly! Many praised how fun the case is and, in particular, Means and his transformation. Others had issues with how they handled Robin and some of the stretches in the murder, such as "You're a goner!"

Summary:

When Apollo takes a case defending one friend in the murder of another, we finally catch up to Case 1, and the circumstances behind the courthouse bombing. Pushed to his limits as a lawyer, Apollo strikes out on his own to find the truth.

Main Characters: Apollo Justice, Athena Cykes, Phoenix Wright, Trucy Wright, Bobby Fulbright, Simon Blackquill
Other Characters: Solomon Starbuck, Juniper Woods, Clay Terran, Yuri Cosmos, Ponco, Aura Blackquill, Clonco

My rating: 6/10. This case bucks the trend in two ways. It's a two-day case, but we skip Investigation 1 and go straight to Trial 1. In addition, this is the first case split between two cases, causing headaches for Ace Attorney case rankers everywhere. This one does feel pretty evenly divided, though. Punished Apollo and Blackquill is a good bout and Starbuck, even though he's quite annoying at first, grows on me. Clay is an interesting addition to Apollo's evergrowing backstory. Cosmos is a fun witness to go up against and...I just really love the setting. I've always enjoyed space exploration and all the space characters just sit well with me.

Honestly think this case gets underrated because of the ending and the structure. Apollo/Blackquill on Day 1 is great. Cosmos is a fantastic lying non-culprit witness. The ending is legitimately shocking, even if it does turn out to be a red herring.

I also love astronomy, so that's probably a bit of my bias showing here...!

It's the Yuri Cosmo show! And... he's great. And... that's most of what I have to say about this case, really. AA5's overarching plot just isn't that interesting and neither is most of this case.
6.2/10

It's good. Everything about it is just good. The ending rules, though.

Also, Aura is extremely hot. That is all.

6.5, its alright but this case kinda just feels incomplete on its own?

It intentionally is, as a lead-in to Case 5. Same as 3-4.

yet all azuarc of all sorts are more or less capricious and unreliable - they live in the varying outer weather, and they inhale its fickleness

good tension but I hated the way the structured the cases in this game. It's why 5-3 is the best one

4/10. This doesn't feel like a full case, and while that's intentional, I have to judge it on what it is, and that hurts it a lot in my book, despite liking most of the pieces of it.

Especially...well, we'll get to 5-5.

Not feeling like a full case isn't a bad thing imo.

Yeah, I don't necessarily view that as a negative like a lot of people do.

Sadly, there are no second chances in the Guru, azuarc doesn't need one.

Most of Starbuck's animations are him experiencing PTSD from the HAT-1.

It's way too awkward this isn't one trial with 5-5, which is funny cause the next game has the opposite problem.

i have no issue with this case being part of one (two? idk how much y'all want to make turnabout countdown part of this equation) other case(s), but it does make rating this hard.

starbuck is a great defendant. i like him a lot. outside of major characters and the dlc case he's probably my favourite new character. yuri cosmos is rightfully a meme icon to end all meme icons. i have problems with aura, but if i remember correctly, they all crop up in 5-6. still nailed the design and animations of both her and the robots.

i learned about the Second Backstory of Apollo Justice before playing this game and i remember dreading it. but ... it honestly wasn't bad. i do feel like this game has a bit of an issue juggling protagonists overall, but the stakes really feel personal and "final trial-y" even without the phantom biz.
It's kind of wild to realize Candice Arme's corpse is inside the bomb case in front of the witness stand the entire first trial day.
