EpicMickeyDrew posted... Let me rephrase. Ill never understand people who dont work out IF THEY COULD AND ARE ABLE
I don't think this wording changes anything for how judgmental it can come across. Like even if you are trying to understand someone's point of view, people can interpret the thread title as insincere.
I just started going to the gym, and it's mostly getting my money's worth for the membership that's keeping me sort of consistent. I'm liking the little progress I've been making, but those first few weeks involved A LOT of soreness, to the point where it was difficult to sleep at one point. It got better after a while, but if you're not set into a routine it would be enough to scare some people off.
Plus if you haven't been fat or unhealthy at some point in your life, it's hard to tell you how daunting it is for you to have to put in so much effort for months to get to what would be considered baseline for other people. If you're overweight, it doesn't feel like you're starting from zero when you start making healthy lifestyle changes, it feels like you're starting way behind someone else who was already in good health that's trying to get fit. Not saying it's not worth the effort, but there's so much mental baggage involved. Like there's a difference from someone that has to work 60 hour work weeks to pay back debt and live month-to-month versus someone working 60 hours to get ahead in their career.
