I literally just discovered this two days ago, but hi-rez sold the rights to tribes and there's a tribes 3 that you can sign up for the beta on steam right now. I played a game last night and it doesn't have any of the base defense stuff yet but the basic gameplay and skiing feels right.

I guess it's still going with a 3rd party service called Next Tribes. Might have to check it out. Game really deserves a modern successor. Had everything. Base/outpost building, vehicles, varied player classes, multiple game modes. Wonderful.

We have mirror neurons which let us feel empathy. Empathy let's us understand each other. Culture informs us on how to process those feelings. Take stealing, empathy let's you know that having something stolen from you is bad, but stealing is evolutionarily advantageous. What should happen to the thief and vicitm is informed by culture.
