Huddled over in a car footwell removing 24 different plastic components to replace an air filter and then putting it all back together again. Your back is sore, your knees are sore, your hands are sore, everything is greasy and none of your screwdrivers are the right size and someone stole your tools and the person you're doing the job for is literally never grateful - they're just annoyed that you charged them for your time. And with every year cars become less easy to work on and your job moves away from the hands on craft you thought you were getting into and more of a tech support parts salesman.
Whenever I think "I'm going to just do that myself and save some time", and I look up how to replace literally anything on a car, my soul slowly dies with each passing minute.
That said I know a lot of people glaze over in seconds at my job so it's horses for courses I guess?
