Excited to see if it lands the ending
I'm expecting some manner of cliffhanger. I'm sure they are expecting to get renewed. I read that they have plans up to maybe 5 seasons
Wait is the last episode being released today (9/23)?!!?

Eh, it was alright.

Thought it was funny they said "All non essential personnel has been evacuated." To then be scared by a random mold scrubber still on duty.

I really enjoyed the first 5 episodes and then felt like it kind of ran out of steam.

I haven't watched any episodes and don't mind spoilers. What ended up happening to that eye thing?

Very underwhelming episode; almost nothing of interest happens. If there isn't a S2 then that is the worst cliffhanger ever

Yeah, I'd hoped the series would have finished off on a stronger episode.

At least we finally got to see the plant thing do something.

If you wanted more details:

Boy tried to bait the main girl's brother to get taken over. She slapped it unconscious to save him. It woke up and tried again, and she kicked it. Then it ran off. The last we saw of it was it taking over a corpse on the outside of the facility.

My thoughts exactly.

The show feels so pointless by the end.

I'd argue the opposite. If this doesn't get renewed, then it won't sting as much since absolutely nothing interesting happened, and I would just shrug my shoulders and move on.

Like they were building up the eye all season, and that was it?
This is a signature.
It's really hoping for a second season, how it ended.

I feel like once again, Dame Sylvia proved to be the dumbest in the episode.

From last week(and end of the previous) she:
-Got her husband fired.
-Took his job.
-Learned one of the kids was dead.
-Learned her husband was missing.
-Learned there was a containment breach in the lab.

And she decided to take a nap, with the alarms going and armed officers flooding the facility.

None of that changed from last episode. That's still all ongoing issues, but this week she:
-Learned Yutani sent a strike force to infiltrate the island.
-Is aware that a bigger force is on the way.
-The facility is under complete lockdown.
-The hybrids have revolted against the humans.
-Theres a crazed Xenomorph on the loose wiping out entire squads of armed military personnel.

And what is it she decides to do during all of this? It's time to go put flowers on the children's graves. Yep. Perfectly safe time to take a stroll, unprotected, outside the locked down facility, that had a containment breach of dangerous monsters, while it's actively under attack from both human and monster enemies. lol

Like, why? Her scenes didn't even add anything. I don't recall her even having a speaking role this episode.

Edit: Also, self destruct elevator. >_>

Overall 8/10

Very high production values, some great Alien moments, touched on a bunch of lore/unique concepts and did most well. Not everything lands but a great addition to the alien-verse which is already a mess in terms of lore so it fits in perfectly with bodybuilder aliens/black goo/bullet ricochets/cloned from blood 200 years later with Alien pregnancy intact

My rankings

Aliens
Romulus
Earth
Alien
Covenant
Prometheus
Resurection
3

This does highlight the issues with tv though. Tv now has movie budgets and movie wait times but at least movies offer concise stories that end the immediate plotline like as in alien Romulus but a sequel could fully happen. This ends with a cliffhanger and a hope for a season 2 which hasn't been greenlit yet, nevermind scripts and filming

It certainly played like they knew they were getting a season 2, that's for sure. Hopefully eyeball is more prominent in season 2 in 7 years time.

She spoke a little bit. In the end scene at that holding cell for all the captured villains, she said something like

"Wendy, Darling....... if I did something wrong, I'm sorry"

And then Wendy said she wasn't sorry or something and that "all you did was put 6 children in the ground"

Which i take to mean Wendy now understands she isn't Marcy, just a copy of a dead girl's mind
Ok, you're right. That part did add something, but the rest of her appearance in the episode was pointless. Just show Nibs grab her, or not even that much.

I'll be pretty surprised if there's not season 2--with the way things ended, I assume it's already been written.

But I'd be surprised if the show didn't get renewed. And they made that finale banking on the idea that it would. Just hopefully it doesn't take a long time to pump out the next season. Alien: Earth was already conceptualized a long time ago and was only now released this year.

I like the hybrid plotline and I think it fits in well with the whole Alien universe. It's just that I do think the xenomorph itself got a bit shafted in this show. At least the one that Prodigy created. It was basically no threat to any named character and slaughtered a bunch of nameless mooks. As for the show's other major alien species, they really struck gold with T. Ocellus. Problem with it was that it was locked in containment for the majority of the show and is only now free to actually start making a major impact.

Overall, was a pretty entertaining show. I'll definitely be interested in more.
Ah, yes, the Negotiator: General Kenobi

My understanding is that the show has done very well by FX/Hulu standards. I would be shocked if it doesn't get a second season.

Yeah season 2 should be greenlit but it's 2-3 years away.

I want seasons to be complete on their own if the follow up is that far away
Would you guys want the eye to actually speak in season 2? I kept wondering if that would happen
I enjoyed this show a lot. I need more episodes.

I think it would be interesting to hear what a species capable of communicating with us might have to say about being captured and studied against their will.

Was kinda hoping we got that in this episode. Instead, we got a full season build up hinting at it's intelligence, and all it does in this episode is act like any other monster mindlessly attacking humans. Saw someone somewhere else describe it well, this felt more like a mid-season finale than a season finale. Very little payoff to what was built up over the seven episodes preceding it.

Mmmm overall liked it, the first 3 or 4 episodes I really had to fight to get through, they didn't have me sold on the literal alien taking such a big back seat to a blade runner synth android type show

I wish we would have gotten a bit more substance this season towards the end, I hell like 10 episode season he would have certified it

I liked it a lot. I think I enjoyed the first few episodes more, and the farther it got, the worse it got but its not that bad at all.

at first I thought this was going to be a one off series, like Fargo was. Now that theyre making multiple seasons, this was the only way to salvage all of the good characters and get rid of the shitty ones.

now if we can get the actors for Slightly and Smee to stop acting like 5 year olds we might be able to have a great show

theyre supposed to be 9-10 years old though. Wendy/ Marci acts way more like an adult. Smee and Slightly took it waaay too far. The difference between a 5 year old and a 10 year old is massive.

also Im really disappointed in the finale length. Only 47 mins while the average length of the episodes was 57-60 mins was very strange to me

I liked this show tbh

Same here. I dropped out of these discussions because I saw the writing on the wall (not necessarily bad writing.) This season's purpose is to set up the story that follows. The danger here though is that the possibility of being canceled is always a threat, and if you create a season specifically to set up something there may never be a pay off. Fans are heavily critical of "Setup seasons." Because most fans don't know where they will even be in a year or three from now. Which is also fair criticism. So ideally you want a strong payoff "now" to ensure fans remain locked in for the future. I WANT to see where this story continues but right now we are in a waiting game and this choice may prevent us from seeing that. We'll see though.

Here's the thing...."setup" is well and good, but it also has to be balanced with some semblance of a good plot that advances the general conceit of the show. I don't think Alien Earth did that effectively. Like what we got was pure "Surf Dracula" to use the meme.

I don't want to watch *eight hours* of setup. I want a good story that makes me want to continue to see what unfolds.

I think it was a good show regardless of setup. Yes I want it to be more conclusive but it touched a lot of themes well enough

Also even if it doesn't get renewed, something happens on the island leaving the 2 xenos dead which makes yutani use the nostromo

I think it's more egregious for me because...

It's Noah Hawley! Fargo is amazing and it's a masterpiece of one-season storytelling. Power to anyone who liked it, though

I had a number of issues with the show, but if it was anything other then Alien I would give it a 7/10. That it's Alien knocks it down a lot, because it just completely sidelines the Alien as an actual threat and central focus. We were supposed to believe Aliens reaching Earth would be an existential threat in the old movies. Now it turns out they're just really strong attack dogs (but not that strong, a little kid in a robot body not designed for combat can solo it in melee combat).

I guess I'm in the minority, because I really liked the season throughout, and thought that the finale was pretty good.

maybe it's because I've never been into creature/stalker horror, but the horror elements in the franchise never resonated, for me. but as I got older, the corporation stuff in the background and the synths were pretty interesting (I still didn't like Prometheus or Alien: Covenant).

with this season, we see how corporation stuff, transhumanism, and a potential new trajectory in human development, so I was cool with all of that, for the most part.

if there's a season two, I hope there's some kind of significant time skip.
Don't you agree, Zach?

They really dropped the ball the last half of the season. This last episode was really bad imo. Visually cool at least and some cool gags, but the writing really went to shit. They'll probably give it as many seasosn as they want though cuz Noah Hawley is FX's main squeeze rn.

I still enjoyed it but every character was really poorly written by the end of it. Shame. Hope they fix things next season.
