Trump has bounced around to so many different defenses, one of which included it was "fake information" created by Obamas, Hillary, and Biden, personally, then he followed that up like a day later with "if there's any credible information then it will be released by Bondi" (IE nothing involving Trump), to calling it a hoax similar to russia, russia, russia, steel dossier, laptop, etc.
There are those in the base who stopped the criticism after Trump/WH contacted them and told them to stop, however there's others who keep going. Yes, the prevailing mentality among that group still wanting it does so because they expect all Democrats to have ever existed, Bill Gates, and Tom Hanks to be indicted by it, however even Mike Flynn today was saying it's a non-partisan issue regardless if Democrats or Republicans are implicated, which is like the one decent thing he's said in about a decade.
Trump, his WH and his DOJ are running a very poorly organied coverup of literal child rape, we know the tapes Bondi mentioned have been deduced as doctored and I guess right-wingers still have some semblance of morals left when it comes to child rape, just not preventing their deaths from guns, feeding them, helping them have medicine, keeping them out of poverty, however literal child rape is a step too far.
Problem is, the real reason Trump isn't releasing them after making such a big deal about it is likely due to big monied oligarchs people have never heard of yet who are controllers of society and our political system. Trump would likely overcome being outed by it, there's many who people have never heard of that are likely controlling the secrecy on the issue.
