There's a lot of wonkiness that makes it easy to tell, but I think the most egregious examples are at the 3 minute 36 second mark.

But, uh, yeah, a lot of this looks like shit.

And you know what? I'm gonna say it. Uzumaki clearly ran out of money and its quality dropped off, but I still enjoyed the thing. It had this chaotic, creepy energy that worked for me despite some of the scenes unfortunately looking absolutely horrible.

But regardless, at least they...tried. It's better than whatever this is. I think that some of the moments in that trailer are already as bad or worse than some of Uzumaki's worst moments.

Junji Ito will never get a good anime.

After fucking up Uzumaki (episode 1 was great though), I think we need to give up the idea that we will ever get a good anime adaptation based off from Junji Ito's work.
DI MOLTO!
Why tf is it so hard to adapt Junji Ito's work? Lol

I'll defend Uzumaki for the most part. Aside from like, a good chunk of episode 2 and that meme falling scene, I didn't think it got THAT bad and it still kept up a really creepy vibe to it, the acting was good, and I think the pacing honestly worked for it as it kept feeling more and more frantic and chaotic. I honestly enjoyed the product despite the rough animation at times.

A lot of his work relies way more on the incredibly intricate visuals over plot, and it's pretty hard to translate them faithfully. Uzumaki tried pretty hard, but clearly didn't have the time or budget needed for it and fell short on that front.

...but AI is definitely not the answer.

Berserk too. It's like the more culturally important a manga is the shittier the anime production becomes.

I think it's pretty simple honestly.

All these remakes and updates and adaptations of long-past stuff are cash grabs. Exec spends 80% of the budget securing the license, leaving little for the actual production.

Meanwhile the people who *could* do such things justice don't want to, because they're out here putting risks on new stuff that might not make it because they're in it for the love of the game.
