Also fucking annoyed. I wanted to get my passport renewed but can't for another 2-3 years. I guess I'll 100% have to be outside of the country and renew it through another country at the embassy or something. I dunno how this passport shit is going to affect me if it is real. All my IDs say female. But I am sure social security keeping this shit on record is where they plan to do all their dirty work.
I would take comfort on this being challenged in court, but, you know...It takes time for things to get to the SCOTUS. Gum up the legal works.
CE, you're doing that hostile hivemind thing you frequently do in political discussions right now. What that poster is saying is closer to what most people in America, including Democrats, including liberals, including leftists think, than what you're saying.https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/a/ab68682b.jpg
You've gotta grapple with that rather than just being immediately hostile and writing off anyone who doesn't think within the specific bounds popular on this board. It's not even left or right, CE does this across the spectrum. You've gotta realize that you think in a very particular way that is not shared by the vast majority of people. Sometimes, you're wrong, sometimes you're right.

The key to understanding how conservatives see the first amendment is understanding they want freedom from consequences for their speech, by government or private entities. But they also want consequences for their enemies, including government ones such as fines and imprisonment (ask how they feel about flag burning or participating in a protest they don't like). So basically they don't actually want freedom of speech as outlined in the constitution.
The worst part about renewing my passport last time was having to state at Trump's fucking face on the portrait on the wall of the embassy. But thankfully I won't ever need to renew my passport again because I will no longer be a US citizen.
Where are you planning to go?
I can either go to Ireland or Japan. Work allows me either since I have a department at both. Time-wise, Japan is best for my schedule and I already met my Japanese colleagues. Ease, Ireland is best but it would be a terrible shift.
There are worse places to live than Japan.
I loved Japan when I was there. I'd live there in a heartbeat. I just..... am way closer to my family to the point it kills me to leave them. I have the funds. I have the job. I have many means. I just want to hold out hope for as long as I can before I take the jump.

Best of luck to you. I hope you dont wait longer than you should.
I'd be fine. Hell, I am the hardest working person in my department. It's a WfH job too. There's little honestly for me to worry about job-wise.
I know. I'm still terrified. I don't know what to do. I need to reach out to the consulate general and just figure out what to start with and what I need to assure is done that takes the longest. At the least, the job and the passport stuff is out of the way. I can speak very basic conversational Japanese too thankfully. I just need to figure out what papers need to be done, find a place and find out what else is essential because I know saying this is just undercoating it. I know there's a lot to literally moving out of the country. Gah.
Hopefully, you're able to cope with the stringent work culture in Japan.
So, is there a source confirming this? Because it's not popped up on any of my normal news haunts.
I found the process of moving to another country wasnt actually particularly complicated, in fairness. If you have a job offer then that should deal with most of the faff for you.
You have all the freedom in America... to be what they want you to be
The part about prison though makes sense. That has been getting abused in CA. Dude gets arrested, claims he identifies as a woman, goes to woman facility and commences getting female inmates pregnant.A) I very much doubt there's an epidemic of cismen doing that.
I hope so. If that's the case, that makes me happy.
Waste of ink. It's petty.

Obviously it depends to some extent on your employer and the place you move to, but I literally just had to go to an office my employer sent to me to once a year. Theyd send somebody with me to translate and do all the busy work. All I had to do was have my photo taken and sign a couple of forms.
I dont even need to do that now that Im married.
But they arranged a place for me to live when I arrived, booked all my flights got all my visas and residency stuff sorted, arranged to have my stuff shipped over, etc. Aside from a long flight, it was pretty painless.
If I did move to Japan, as long as I have some connection that gets me to Shinjuku, I'd be perfectly fine. And with Japan's metro system, that's easy. Since I started at my job, I been to my office once in like, 5 years. Not even exaggerating. I went to the office just to get my computer fixed. On the plus side, being in Japan means being close to a lot of delicious food establishments. If there's one thing Japan does right, it's food quality.
Ultimately, I don't see much of anything really changing if I were to move. I don't deal with office audits either. It's wild to say it but as long as I got myself settled somewhere, I'd be almost invisible to offices. It's really, really nice. I still do online google meets and such as that, but IRL presence is almost no longer needed with us, so long as work is done.
https://www.thefp.com/p/trumps-day-one-executive-order-male-female-gender-ideology-pronounsDamn. Really hoped the lack of a source meant this was fake. Turns out TC was just lazy.

I love Shinjuku.
Youre absolutely right that their transport system is great.
It sounds like its a very feasible thing for you to do, which Im guessing makes you more fortunate than some of the others who are looking to leave the States.
Yeah. Again, it's just my familial connections. My youngest brother and I are like friends. My mother is even more like a friend than a parent. We have some interesting bonds here. I just know leaving, time will elapse between the day I step out of the house and the next time I see my parents in the flesh. I dunno. It's painful. It's not like you are just moving down the street or could see them every other day for dinner or something.
*sigh*...... It's such a bad struggle mentally. I really wish reality was different.
What does sex or biology have to do with the first amendment?

Ive found that moving to the other side of the planet did diminish or outright destroy some of my relationships, but many have endured and almost feel stronger now as a result. Plus, moving to a new place makes making lots of new ones.
I live in the absolute middle of nowhere (less than 10,000 people) and it has better public transit and I get less slurs (which is to say it has never happened in 8 years here in Japan) yelled at me than Seattle, which is allegedly a super progressive place. We have LGBT events at my city's library. Imagine that happening in a small town in the US. Someone would probably try to shut it down for grooming children or some nonsense.
I love hearing this. Like, I am not a loud trans person. I usually keep to myself and if you saw me in public, you'd just see me blending in with others. I'd get by on the daily easily for that reason despite being who I am and the fact I wear a mask all the time anyways. But seeing that your small city library there even has LGBT events..... it's nice to hear honestly. I mean Hell, when I was in Japan, I remember seeing a news story about a trans boy on the TV and given what I could even make out, it sounded like the story was pushing sympathy in a good way, interviewing him and more. It really made me feel like being there would be okay after all.
You will see a lot of trans people on TV here. Quite a few celebrities (you probably know Utada Hikaru) and some talent (basically people that just appear on random programs). I only know one trans person in our city (very small), but I didn't talk to them much about how it was living here because it's kind of rude to get personal unless you know someone well here, so I can't give you any firsthand information. My town has a lot of pro-LGBT posters due to how big of a presence the Japanese Communist Party has here so it feels nice seeing that stuff at the train station. That said I know some of the larger cities have far right groups that have views similar to Trumpers in the US, they aren't a major force in politics currently, but they exist (Sanseito and Hoshuto for example). The lack of a religious basis for hating LGBT people and the rich history of LGBT here makes it feel somewhat safe.
this is so stupid even if you ignore the transphobia
if an ID has to reflect the biological "truth", but it also can only say male or female, then what about intersex people for example
do transphobes hate those too

It's terrifying too, because any trans person who wants to travel and 'blend in' at a hostile country for whatever reason they may 'need' to, this shit outright 'outs' us.man i didn't even think of implications like this
do people think that this is something easy to set up? that you're not going to be psyched evaluated and that they're just going to take the prisoner's word completely?
do you also think that the rest of the prisoners are not gonna target them or something? that they're just going to take over the entire prison?
