I personally don't. They invented the search algorithm. Created a browser for it. Other browsers have the option to still use Google search.

Penalized for paying apple to have Google as default search as well kind of like Sony with 3rd party devs. All I know is that us consumers don't really suffer from it so who is this ruling for? Yahoo, alta vista and lycos from back in the day?

Lol. The ads? Never notice them on chrome and I usually go to the first line that doesn't say "sponsored".

Well I get the angst against it then. But, do you honestly believe the next in line won't do the same thing? I'm not on social media but I hear those ads are the worst of the worst.

I think pretty much all big corporations in the US need to be broken up.
Why is there a monopoly for police and other emergency services?

Oh, because they're emergency services?

Well, in an emergency... you're gunna google

This. "Too big to fail" shouldn't exist, and no company should make up more than 15% of any industry.

Let's just say for argument's sake you were the innovator of a technology. You have 100%. Through time you get imitators and your 100% becomes 80%. The 80% looks like a monopoly now because the government finally realized how much money ads bring in but the 100% back then didn't. Is that fair to you? (No I don't work for Google lol)

I agree with your statement but more for utilities. Edison has southern Cali on lock and if they raised prices dramatically we can't do anything about it. MS and office is another bad thing once they went subscription. Thankfully Google "office" is free and compatible with MS office (for now).

Good vid. Thanks. I get it. Aside from ads it's the quality of the search results that get muddied by revenue dollars. One thing the dude brought up though...any other browser we go to will have the same problem. It's like killing a dictator for only a potentially worse dictator to take it's place.

I do miss that little timer Google used to have and it's a shame I didn't get to try that browser start up in 2018 from their ex engineers.

But...let's face it. Most people use Google to search for things to buy or where to eat. The Internet isn't for actual knowledge anymore like it used to.

I forgot to mention that this should apply to manufacturing plants as well. Remember that baby formula crisis 2 years ago when a single factory (responsible for 44% of America's domestically produced baby formula) had to shut down for awhile due to contamination? (And Trump's tariffs, which Biden never bothered to remove, made it extremely difficult to import the needed amounts of baby formula)

So you've never even heard of OpenOffice? It's been a perfectly viable option ever since M$ Office went subscription. And it's open source!

OpenOffice has been on life support for the last 12 years, everyone uses LibreOffice now.

The ruling is potentially really problematic, as Mozilla gets a ton of funding from Google. It could end up making Chrome the only choice.

ABC has its fingers in a lot of pots. Losing control over Chrome isn't going to do too much
Fuck Google, they're an awful company that should absolutely be broken up.
Fuck Google for selling phones that need reset every 20-30 minutes of use.

But just because someone has a popular browser doesn't mean that the government should step in

I think breaking up Chrome or dissolving it would be a problem for most companies. It's the friendliest browser in terms of compatibility for intranet sites.

Minimize the ads. Reduce the sponsored crap. And for the love of god...stop listening to my conversations then materialize it in the browser. I could have sworn I turned the mic off.
