I live a very frugal lifestyle outside of video games. I cutback on almost everything except on gaming

maybe not the wisest thing I ever done in my life, but as they say you only live once!

I hate to actually say outright just because people on here sometimes react poorly to that type of stuff. I have a nice retirement through my work that is doing very well and every time I see articles about what most Americans have I feel a whole lot better about where I am.

My house and vehicle are completely paid for and have been for awhile and I'm in a cheap cost of living place with a decent job. The money I make wouldn't sound great to a lot of people in expensive high cost cities but again, for where I'm at in the Midwest it is pretty good and allowed me to pay off a house completely in a short amount of time.

I also have really good benefits via work and I have traded some outright $ per hour salary for the long term benefits of my retirement, free insurance, high vacation days and paid sick leave, stuff like that. I could go to a city utility tomorrow and make 6 figures easily but I opted for the better retirement and long term.

So I live comfortably and am able to save/invest 75 to 80% of my monthly check every month. This month was actually like 83% I have no concerns about retirement.

Technically less than 1,000,000 covers pretty much everyone here I would guess...
In ISAs/savings, I have (in USD) about $55,000. In shares I have an additional $40k. My pension is near enough $100k but I'm still in my early-mid 30s so I've got another 36 years to build that up.

My current account has about $6600 in it and I have another $2000 as a reserve fund.

I probably shouldn't share this but I've had a few beers with a mate and we talked finances - his house is worth about $1m and he wants to clear his mortgage, he asked me for advice as my house is only worth $870k but I cleared my mortgage a year ago. He's a family man and wanted to spend more on his house for his kids, whereas I'm single and spent $200k on cars instead.

I've had a few drinks, I'll probably regret this when I wake up. Eh, never mind, I know this sounds like a flex but I wanted it to be more that this dickhead can get to that point, so don't be disheartened. If I, of all people, can be comfortable in my mid-30s, then so can anybody else.
No, I'm not that one.

I went with less than $250k because my 401 is currently about half that or a bit more (I don't check it religiously) and I have about another $17k on hand.

Do apparently have some pretty good home equity should I need it, however.

Ignorance, prejudice, and fear walk hand in hand.
Between retirement and my high yield savings it's under 100k but if I keep contributing at the rate I have been for retirement at least, should be pretty comfortable if/when I get to my late 60s.

Only debt is the mortgage too.

If those mortgages had good interest rates, paying them down early was a terrible idea.

Liquid savings: 21,000 give or take, depends on the time of month when the credit card bills and rent are due, but I generally save 700-800 a month
