Dgaf about Harry Potter, I think I only read the first book and didnt see the movies, but I want an open world game to waste time on

Putting aside all the controversy, it is a well made game that starts getting very repetitive due to its Ubisoft style open world design. You probably know if you like that or not.

yeah, its a pretty fun game, but like bsp said it does get repetitive.

its a solid 7/10 imo. there's a lot that could be improved, esp with the open world and classes (not like player class, but actual in-game class for school), but it's not a bad game.

If I dont know anything about Harry Potter is it still fun or is half the appeal seeing shit that I would recognize from the books/movies

The main charm comes from exploring the castle. If you don't care about Harry Potter you probably will never like the game as it is pretty superficial all around as far as gameplay goes. Like combat is fun, but incredibly repetitive. Enemy types don't really vary enough. Locations all feel pretty samey in the grand scheme. I really enjoyed it but I've also read the books about a dozen times and watch the movies at least once a year.

It's morally untenable to buy this game. There's thousands of other games you could enjoy instead and playing this one directly supports bigotry and hatred.

How can you not care about Harry Potter, he's literally the boy who lived. You realize he survived the avada kadaver curse as A BABY? From the most powerful wizard in the world at the time to boot no less.

No. It is the cornerstone definition of a game that only appeals to people nostalgic about the original source. Nothing outside of Hogwarts itself is actually anything special, and if you aren't getting the references then the only good-ish part of the game falls flat. Otherwise it's just a generic open world looter game.

This. I only enjoyed my time because my wife, who is a massive potterhead (that's what the fanbase calls themselves), was watching me play the game and fangirling at at some details in the game. Otherwise, it's pretty generic as it gets, the worst part being the open world segments.

That's definitely a big part of the appeal, going through famous movie locations and actually seeing things not in the movie but described in the books and exploring the castle. Game is fine outside of that though, but nostalgia definitely raises it from a 3 star game to a 4 star one.
