It is an amazing game. It wears its influences on its sleeve and that annoys some people, but it is damned good.

IMO, it's a pretty mid game with amazing art and a good soundtrack.
It was gorgeous but underwhelming.

I've heard nothing but praise for it except from the ever present "popular thing bad" types. So it's probably pretty alright

Haven't got around to digging it out of the backlog myself

I found it to be a very good game that, admittedly, does stall around the 80% mark because you pretty much have the same tools for combat from start to end.

There isn't a lot of changing it up. Makes encounters more puzzle than a brawl, which is fine for a shorter game.

I bounced off it. Was not holding my attention.

I was expecting it to have a great cast, interesting story and character development like the game it was so heavily inspired by (chrono trigger). I've not beaten it yet but it's boring and bland, the main characters have 0 personality
Completely agree. I quit halfway through
Currently playing - Xenoblade Chronicles 3
The battle system is fun at first, and a complete slog by midway. It's charming, but forgettable.

Its pretty cool for like 5-10 hours

and then you realize youve seen everything the game has to offer and its using is art style and music to compensate

Opinions.
It is impossible to live in the past, difficult to live in the present, and a waste to live in the future.

From what my friend told me, it's very nostalgia baitey and he told me that the game is essentially discount Chrono Trigger without all the stuff that made that game memorable.
DI MOLTO!
I had a lot of fun playing the game but I never got the true ending for it, which requires a lot of tedious item finding and (I think) playing an in-game board game that I just didn't find fun. Its play style is very similar to Chrono Trigger, and there's really no unnecessary grinding. Worst part of the game is unfortunately the first hour, with its unskippable story and very, very little battling. They really could have found a better way to insert that at a later point. But I'm looking forward to the free DLC and might start a new game just so I can refamiliarize myself with all its mechanics.
Without truth, there is nothing.
i liked it 7.5/10 for me so looking forward to the DLC

Id put it firmly in the mediocre category. It scratches some of the retro-JRPG itch, but its very simplistic in design and the dialogue is awful.

Pretty much. It's not "people are hating it because it's popular", it has some pacing issues. It takes awhile to pick up before it slows back down again, the story never becomes interesting, and it's incredibly on rails and linear.

I didnt enjoy it, which is a bummer because I LOVED the studios previous game (The Messenger)
DOT MATRIX WITH STEREO SOUND
It suffers from its marketing. It was touted as the savior of turn based rpg, the best thing since slice Chrono Trigger. In short, it failed to meet an unrealistic and improper expectation. The brief time I played the game, it was a beautiful and uninspiring experience. Something Ill pick up on sale and probably enjoy immensely with realistic expectations.
it's a pretty looking game though

Absolutely not. I watched a review that tried to tear it apart in a very long winded way. That I didn't agree with. But I played the demo and it just felt boring.

I think it was made with passion also the completion ist. Got removed b/c of charity fraud. He had a sprite in the game. I think he was a shop keeper.

Yea I felt the demo never got me into it and I spoiled everything for myself.

It's a 6.5 game

I'll do the Chained Echoes trope but it was better.

PS4 looks great
it's boring as fuck, 34.99 for like a 5-6/10 game when chained echoes is cheaper and significantly better
How to play Monster Hunter
Step 1: Hit the monster. Step 2: Don't get hit.
I find it very average. I think stuff like this and Chained Echoes get super hyped on gamefaqs because people want it to be so much like some of the retro experiences they had when they were younger but it simply isnt the same for most.

I have had much more fun with games that were lower budget yes but didnt necessarily try to lean in to the retro aspect. Stuff like Rainbow Moon and the sequel Rainbow Skies.

Yes. Really bad even.

It looked great and had good music. The battle system was okay at first but became boring as you don't get any interesting progression. The writing is awful.

Overall it's a big disappointment and I'll likely never want to replay it.
The Legend is True!
Yea fuck this game I got a couple ppl with me let's go streaking. But tbh I just felt it was dull. I have no axe to grind lol it was just not my bag. Baybee. Lawl.

Preeetty much. I find it pretty much a nail in the coffin for of the indie RPGs is if my first time of hearing about the game is here and that it's "based on Chrono Trigger." People are desperate for their nostalgia to be actually tangible, but more oft than not it's merely deluding themselves about the quality of a game.

Oh, and as an aside Sea of Stars is doing a free DLC expansion bit.

That game by Tokyo rpg factory. I am Setsuna after the fact. I was trying to give that a real play because I love snow.

I have more personal opinions on that or games I mentioned before but hehe. I think this game is probably fine though they did have no idea how to turn off the 4d references. Sea of Stars at times can't wait to make sure you are playing a game.

I platinumed this. It was alright. Not the super special RPG that some people make it out to be.

Wasn't a fan of most of the characters. Especially the two "main" characters.
Stand out, fit in
