I think they are aware that those are Republican ideals at this point. Maybe random Republican voters could be ignorant of that, but not Nikki Haley. All those Republican politicians want what Trump and the GOP is selling.

Fair enough

Completely expected. Somehow only Mike Pence of all people has shown any sort of moral fortitude on this position.

LOL no. It's just that Mike Pence is a Republican of above-average intelligence, and therefore can remember that Trump literally tried to get him murdered by a mob on January 6.

Self interest is not moral fortitude.

Pence supported Trump until the mob came for him. So calling that moral fortitude isnt something I agree with.

Liz Cheney is the only Republican who made an actual stand on principle with something actually on the line. I dont agree with her on anything but on Trump we do.

I know, I'm not talking about then. There was a period where Pence flip-flopped like everybody else, however very recently, like a week or 2 ago, he expliticly stated that he refuses to endorse Donald Trump and that he doesn't know who he's voting for, but he's not voting for Trump.

I guess his career is largely over so calling him "big" may be a misnomer, however he's the only Republican of national prominence I can think of who has committed to not voting or endorsing him.

Everybody else Trump insulted eventually caved and got on their knees for Trump.

And don't get me wrong, not endorsing/planning to vote for someone who has insulted and threatened your safety is literally the least he could do, however every other Republican makes it seem like some Herculean feat.

Adam Kizinger as well, he still hasn't stopped talking shit about Trump, however my statement was more about former Republican candidates or people who made big statements about how Trump is a threat to democracy and should never get back in, ultimately to flip on that and say actually I'm voting for/endorsing Trump.

2 recent examples are Sununu of New Hampshire and Bill Barr. For months they talked a good game and ultimately kissed the ring. Pence, at the least, has not become one of them. It's the one decent thing I can say about that monster.

Trump also almost got a ton of Republican reps killed and they still suck him off. I forget who, but there's that dude who said they're just tourists and we have a picture of him freaking out and hiding from these "tourists".

Recently Christ Sununu and Bill Barr, after spending months talking about how Trump is an existential threat to this nation and its democracy, how he should never get back in, are now saying they plan to vote for and support him. Haley is the most recent. On this front Pence as recent as a few weeks ago says he refuses to do either for Trump. It would be far easier to cave like every other Republican and kiss Trump's ass as that's the Republican way. He's at least not done that.

For the people saying it's best for her or whatever...

how did Ted Cruz or Mitt Romney or Chris Christie actually benefit by bending the knee?

They are still invited to GOP events instead of being exiled?

They don't have MAGA giving them constant death threats.

Well, I bet Romney and Christie do get those, so they don't have them as much as they could be.

Cruz would be primaried out.

From what I remember hearing about Haley's future goals, I think she's trying to get into some right-wing thinktank and it might be a condition that she publicly support Trump for her to get in.

Chris Christie still got "exiled" because without being governor he no longer had any power (same position that Haley is in now). Cruz and Romney weren't going to lose their Senate races regardless of any opposition to Trump, especially if it was just tepid "I don't like what he said about my wife" but otherwise just not talking about him. They might be exiled if they were on TV every day bashing on Trump, but there's a lot of room between that and licking his boots which got them nothing.

She defied Daddy Trump, so the vengeance is coming day one and she's just too stupid/compromised to see it.

I mean, that's what personally benefits her the most, why wouldn't she?

Funny part is I dont think this even benefits her at all. She was carving out a nice chunk of the party for herself and was easily setting up to be the next nominee.

There was no reason to think she wouldn't. Remember how everyone who denounced Trump in 2016 quickly lined up to kiss the ring?

To be a Republican means lacking any sort of integrity or dignity.
