still seems like a slap in the face
their lawyer noted that law enforcement outnumbered the gunman 376 to 1.Yea, but he had a legal gun, so there's nothing they could do.
Considering it's Texas, that's 2 million more than I thought they'd ever get.
It's still not nearly worth what losing a child is, but I guess 50k is better than nothing.
Should come out of the police budget/pensions, but of course that will never happen. Just tax payers footing the bill for cowardice.Exactly this
I would have said fuck your money give me the video i would want the truthThis. I wonder if that video will ever leak
I saw this in the evening news. They apparently agreed to the settlement because 2 mil was the max the city's insurance would cover and they didn't want to bankrupt their own city. *shrugs*Shouldn't it be like 2mil max per plaintiff?

good use of taxpayer money
the cops will probably say they need more over the next few years
Do cops not have flash bang grenades? Gonna suck for the kids too but they woulda lived
Yeah I was under the assumption you couldn't sue a government agency. I know I was told we couldn't sue the school when I was growing up you had to sue a individual or individuals

(2) I got to read the first couple paragraphs before I hit the paywall. With only that context...
Video games don't cause violence and mass shooting. They just don't. Jack Thompson no longer has a career because they don't. BUT...
There's something to be said for the "accuracy" of shooters like CoD that are basically gun porn. They're, in some ways, like glorified firearms catalogues meant to hype the guns more than the game play. Even if they're not using real names anymore, tell me how hard it really is to figure it out?
It's irrelevant. A person who is a mass shooter and also played video games was already insane in the first place. The "realism" doesn't matter.Plus in terms of context most video games are more or less not reenacting school shootings as their plots but rather like war scenarios and stuff of that nature which are a vastly different thing.
