I'm certainly no expert, however I'm pretty sure you can't just willy nilly make renovations to apartments like that in China. He literally added physical extensions which make it protrude outwards. Actually I doubt you could do that in the U.S. either unless you outright owned the apartment.

Even then I think there are laws against it. It looks unsafe.

I would never live in an apartment like that out of safety concerns, but if it were in a safe, legal location, yeah I would live in a space like that for a year for a million dollars. I like small, cozy spaces so I might actually like it.
