There should be a word for the phenomenon of someone not personally enjoying something thus deciding that people who do enjoy it are only doing it due to a physical/sexual attraction.

Inside is the most overrated comedy special ever. His earlier specials were incredible because the audience reaction was integral to many of his jokes. You lose the audience and most of the jokes just don't land.

Bo Burnham is actually an artist. He's my favorite comedian by far. Traditional comics would probably be Stavros or Mulaney.

I didnt think Inside was very funny in a goofy comedy sense, but I do think its absolutely brilliant and I had visceral emotional reactions to it. Its definitely more than merely a comedy special. Its more in the vein of black comedy than anything else.

if you ever feel miserable thinking about all the ways modern life is fucked up (pandemic lockdowns were very illuminating for a lot of people) Inside is gold

it's not haha laugh out loud funny most of the time, it's just haha the world is going to shit isn't it? plus more personal stuff from Bo's side

anyways I've always found him quite funny. illuminating discussions with friends helped me see some of the "holier than thou" deficits in his "comedy," but even Bo himself has grappled with some of that, especially with Inside

can guarantee his popularity is not from people finding him hot. you see his little boy looks from when he got started? you hear his effeminate gargly voice? any hotness perceived is hard won through is funny-ness and stuff

I liked him in the acapella Key and Peele skit. The way he just casually brushes Peele off while still being genuinely friendly is amusing.

I think he's more of an acquired taste. I have a friend who loves him, he's shown me multiple songs from him and a ide from a few where I really laughed, it was mostly just chuckleworthy.

I think it's that way for most comedians who base their standup around doing music/playing an instrument.

They can't all be Dimitri Martin.
