The stupidity of the characters was very off-putting. Yes, let me remove my helmet on this alien planet. Yes, let me try and pet the alien creature coming out of the black ooze. Yes let's land on this random planet we know nothing about. Let's disturb the nature and sniff everything.
Don't forget Charlize Theron's character running in a straight lineThat I could attribute to sheer panic. Cause I sure wouldn't be thinking straight either if a giant donut was rolling after me.

Prometheus was fine. I hated the ending of Alien Covenant so, so much though. No way in hell is Prometheus was fine, but Alien Covenant was so worse.
No way in hell is Prometheus was fine, but Alien Covenant was so worse.Expecting characters to act smart in an action/horror movie is just unreasonable. If people in movies were smart, most plots wouldn't happen.
The creature has just lost its scare factor.the game alien isolation showed youcan still make a xenomorph scary
High time for something new.
(Yeah, I know, easier said than done....but still)
The alien franchise has been a dumpster fire for longer than it's been good and I think at this point people are done giving it second chances. A new alien movie should probably get as much hype and attention as any other never-ending horror franchise.This. I've been angry at the franchise since Alien 3. Not because it wasn't a good movie, it was. I just preferred the direction the comics took the story as opposed to the route Alien 3 and then Resurrection took. Though I will say Ron Perlman was fucking great in Resurrection.
oh also reminder hack dirrector ridley scott wants to focus more on his stupid human villian than the xenomoprhs going forward
he said the alien convent failing is proof people dont want xenomorphs
Engineers had potential. Xenomorphs have been squeezed dry.We really should have seen Engineers and Xenomorphs together.
Prometheus had a pretty damn cool OG script and the way they watered it down was crazy
i dont like the idea of the xenomoprhs being artificially created period no matter who did it

That said, Prometheus is "fine," not particularly good. It had some neat scenes. Michael Fassbender was killing it.
Ridley Scott saying he's getting old and on with life, and wanting to wrap up his Alien canon with some awesome but bugnuts lore was something I was 200% on board with. The prometheus rewrites are abysmal, and he didn't even have the balls to stand by his thrice-rewritten story in the sequel he directed.ridley scott did not creat the aliens franchise he did not write the original film and had fuck all to do with the rest of the franchise till promeotheus
In short he chickened out twice and instead made two hazy, inconclusive, garbage movies because he couldn't commit to his vision.
It made complete sense in the original scripts and was actually quite eerie. Master Geneticists make an oops, big time, is so much better thani do not give a fuckpsychopathic robot fucks around and accidentally makes the damn things.
They were implied as weapons even in the first Alien film. Not a stretch to say they were not natural."A perfect organism. Its structural perfection matched only by its hostility. Unclouded by conscience, remorse, or delusions of morality."
"A perfect organism. Its structural perfection matched only by its hostility. Unclouded by conscience, remorse, or delusions of morality."not really no
Sounds like something created straight out of a lab.
The problem with the xenomorph is that studios are afraid to let it be what it was designed to be. It's an invasive species that absorbs the DNA of its victims and takes on new forms as part of that. The problem is the original alien design became so iconic that now the very species whose defining trait is morphing is locked into like three forms.to be fair its kinda hard to get a none human to a face hugger
Don't forget Charlize Theron's character running in a straight line
honestly, haven't seen much advertisement for it. This place is about the only time I hear about it.

I disagree. Take a look at Life. Yeah, the entire human race *not just the characters* were stupid as hell, but aside from a few very major instances (the flamethrower/fuel one being completely understandable), their stupidity did not drive the plot. A clusterfuck of worst-case scenario events (think Final Destination-lite) combined with the bad guy's invincibility and intelligence drove the plot. That said, some people complained about said clusterfuck.Another great example imo is The Thing, where aside from maybe Clark who drank too much of the stupid juice, they were all operating on paranoia, desperation, or lack of understanding, all which are clearly distinct from stupidity.
To be completely fair.... Their options were either run in a straight line under the rolling space ship, or move out of the way and die via the heavy rain of fire and debris.Wasn't like the entire trouble of that movie caused by pretty much the crews own actions? It's been a while since I've seen it, and I know the lifeform does outsmart them a lot, but there were definitely some stupid decisions.
Yeah, I'm guessing this is a significant factor.
