These people are speeding around making the roads unsafe, but they can go so fast that pursuit isn't worth it, so the police disengage. What do you think should be done, if anything?

Do what Italian police do. Have actual fast pursuit vehicles instead of Ford Explorers and Chevy Tahoes.

It's not that they can't catch them, it's that it becomes unsafe to pursue them. They will disengage, unless it's something serious or violent.

Give more black people speed bikes. Cops will figure out a way to stop speed bikes if it means beating the crap out of more black people.

Clearly you've never seen police chases in the US Southeast.

Regardless though, my point still stands. North American police vehicles are dog slow compared to even a low end crotch rocket. Meanwhile the standard issue police vehicle in Italy is an Alfa Romeo, and they use literal Lambos for high speed chases on the Autostrada.

NA police in both Canada and the US need to step it up. The SUV's don't cut in anymore. My base model Mercedes crossover can outrun a police Explorer. So imagine trying to catch a sport bike in one of those tanks. No chance.

Yeah, I've heard those states have pretty nasty pit maneuver policies. Even if the cops have speed bikes, those speeds still make the pursuits higly dangerous for everyone on the road.

Several departments in the US have Dodge Chargers in their fleet. But the issue remains that high speed chases are dangerous. They'll still end a pursuit if the suspect starts driving too recklessly. We've had some pretty bad accidents happen because of high speed pursuits.

True. If it becomes enough of a problem, though, there are ways to handle that too.

Cops don't need better equipment than they already have. They need reform, training, and the discipline to use the tools they are given safely and properly with extreme consequences for their career and criminal history if they fail to.

Ticket the bike. Issue a summons. If they're dangerous enough drivers, wait at their residence and arrest them when they park their bike.

This shouldn't be rocket science. And cops don't need rockets to keep up with them. Engaging at high speeds instead of disengaging endangers the public even more than a cop's presence alone already does.

EDIT: Fixed a sentence of backward thought.

I was watching a racing tv show. During the TV show they talked about speed limiters. Would something like that work and be required by law to be installed?

It's fairly naive to think that's something that people wouldn't just have removed with aftermarket mods, do you really think they're concerned with legality at this point?
Just asking. I think the fine should be steep if it's removed. We are just floating ideas
