There are two protags. One is a kunoichi (female ninja), and the other is Yasuke.

Isn't this historically accurate as there was a noteworthy Black samurai?

Yup, I don't think we know much about him, so he's a perfect character to use in a fictional setting like this. He's a blank slate to tell their story with.

I don't remember anyone complaining about AC3 having a Native protagonist in a game taking place in Colonial era America. Makes you think about how much social media discourse has ruined everything.
Thanks for reading!
Id say Yasuke seems to be overly milked for such a minor historical figure, but theres certainly nothing wrong with the game over it.
There are like an actual thousand, completely unrelated, way more justified reasons to be mad at Ubisoft.

I do not understand how some people can just be angry all the time. And I do mean all the time. Not because of price gouging or buggy games or whatever, but because of black characters. Why the actual shit are they like this?
Born to lose, live to win!
Its pretty tiring to hear people cling to Yasuke as if he was some major figure.

He had a really mediocre Netflix anime (where he played second fiddle to a random little girl and a bunch of mechs), was a random extra boss in Nioh, and so on, yet people keep acting like he was some badass on par with Nobunaga.

The alt-right deliberately and intentionally poisoned the gaming community, because the Western gaming community is predominantly made up of young White men and teen boys, many of whom may also be social outcasts. They're the perfect targets for spreading their hate.

It's because of the mystery and legend behind it. We mostly just know he was a retainer for Nobunaga.

There's little history there, but the fact that was associated with one of the most influential and powerful figures in Japanese history during an age of revolution lends to itself to a slew of what ifs.

Have you not heard of Yasuke? I mean, he was a samurai and not a shinobi, but still.

Now I will wait for the DLC set a few decades later when William Adams will be portrayed as a Templar and Yasuke needs to kill him.

It is impossible to live in the past, difficult to live in the present, and a waste to live in the future.

Have they ever used a real person as a protagonist before? I know they like to sprinkle them into the story but this seems like a first.

William Adams was a well-documented Englishman who actually had a pivotal role in Japans history.

People bringing up Nioh and Shogun as whataboutisms arent being clever.

I dont think Yasukes existence should be relevant since this is just a video game that never claimed to be historically accurate.

I just dont want to see people spin this as an African man attacking Asians.

Odyssey and Origins both had two possible player characters.

The former: Kassandra and Alexios, brother and sister.

The latter: Eivor, either a man or a woman (or "let the Animus decide" which has a woman for almost everything except very specific scenes).

The canon protagonists are the women.

Assassin's Creed has never claimed to be historically accurate so that's a moot point.

So strange that you and your ilk are only complaining now that it's a black character.
