I remember reading that the Rex was more of a scavenger than a hunter. I'm not sure we know how well it would do in head to head combat. And the tusks on that elephant are massive. Most theorize that T-Rex would be the apex predator of the region and largest land predator to ever live (even if things like Spinosaurus and Giganotosaurus might have been longer than it).Interesting theories. The problem is the T. Rex can probably survive multiple rams/butts, while the elephant probably cannot survive a single good chomp, and the T. Rex has reach and height advantages for that. This assumes the T. Rex can use its tail to help stand back when knocked down.Elephants really aren't designed to attack higher targets either which makes Rex's body shape trickier to hit as well. And yeah with a >6 ton bite force, it needs to bite the elephant just once to kill it.
