Since Calwings is retiring and no one else wants to step up, I guess Ill make it.

NIKKE having a Kingdom Rush-inspired tower defense minigame for its 1.5 anniversary is the obvious reason for the topic title, but the other tower defense gachas are also going strong.

Millennium War Aigis is somehow still ranking first on a lot of days, long after its 10th anniversary celebration.

Monmusu TD has a player version now.

Arknights I hear the story got really, REALLY bonkers.

And that about covers it.
Preparation is the last refuge of the weak
Still the same song.

Girls' Frontline.
Project Neural Cloud.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel.

Recently my mind isn't on gacha much due to malding in Reverse Collapse, which is not a gacha game lol.

Mr God Jackstar, the Unfathomable Abyss, the Dancing Stardust of Sagittarius, the Blazing Inferno of Frozen Hell, Second Principal Leader of Incomplete Brigade!
I stopped playing gachas a few months ago when I couldn't get any of 'em to start. Was still doing the same two from 2018 (Girls' Frontline and Azur Lane) on and off, but no big deal, I guess. They probably weren't long for my schedule once I got a Steam Deck anyway.

Crazy bonkers.

And Cal is retiring from the topics or CE?
Let's make biscuits!
I'm still only playing Revue Starlight and D4DJ Groovy Mix, and nothing interesting is happening in either of them. Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel too if you want to count that as a gacha, but that has its own separate general.

I'm not just making these gacha general topics anymore. I'll still occasionally post in them, but considering how little there is for me to discuss about the games I'm playing, it'll be rare. If a new game launches that I want to try, then you might see me around more often.

My current gachas are pretty sad because they're ones that I've quit and came back to multiple times (Pokemon Masters, Last Cloudia, & 7DSGC). Definitely hoping for something new that sticks. I'm kinda looking forward to Assault Lily coming to global.

Yeah but it's closely related to one. Close enough where talking about it here shouldn't be a problem, I think.

RCBG gacha is being low leveled enough (or you play anything harder than Standard) that you always miss your shot.

Since this is a tower defense thread and all, Ill give a larger post to Aigis.

Good old Aigis. If it werent for the Makaidols and the 10th anniversary rewards, I probably wouldnt have gotten back into it.

The strongest unit* and the strongest idol duo deserves their own PV and theme song, after all.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=xlr1pugCzYw

(not actually the strongest but definitely on par with some of the top tiers, despite being an idol unit and not a hero unit)

Anyway, this song plays whenever you activate their skill, which lasts forever until they die (or get paralyzed). Oh, and if they die, they can be resummoned again (after 30 seconds) with twice the stats. And if they die again, they get another x2 stat boost. So yeah, pretty OP.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/c/ca3929bc.jpg

That said, no idea why I struggled on this map.

Besides the fact that the boss here full-heals all enemies in range until you bring her to 50% HP, in which case she spams AOE tornados a second that do like 2k damage per hit. Still, I shouldnt have struggled with my team.

Oh, but thats just the regular version of the map. The hard mode adds a second boss that spams exploding pots at you.

Jesus H. Monkeyballs, Pixel Heroes RNG hates me. There are 2 banners, each with a pity at 120, and to get the characters 4 times each, Ive had to pity all 8 times <_<

I couldnt take it so I uninstalled :<

It might be for the best since Wuthering Waves is coming out soon. Although Ive never really stuck with action games for long.

Got Robin for my FUA and finally feel like I have a top tier comp.

I've had Seele mono q built for some time now but it's only ever felt "fine" and my FUA team kept having to run Pela or Asta who were solid stopgaps tbf

Finally got around to giving Brown Dust 2 a try after the recent debacle with them releasing a loli in a wedding dress. Refithea, if you want to look her up.

Somehow her banner was already removed and shes in the standard pool now, but her other dress banner is still up.

Did like three rerolls before eventually getting her.

And now to forget about the game until next month, I suppose. Supposedly theres a collab and the first anniversary then.

Fuck... I don't remember what email or login I used for Snowbreak. I might be screwed. If I don't get my sick luck several T0 character acc, then I'm not playing tbh.

The launch characters of Snowbreak have fallen off for the most part in the meta. Only two of them are still relevant now (Yao: Winter Solstice and Fenny: Coronet) but I suspect their days are numbered. We've gotten too many good units since and each new one is strong in some aspect.

Launch 5* characters -
Lyfe: Wild Hunt (freeze support; not much DPS due to being a SMG user but kind of a sub-DPS character too; niche uses)
Fenny: Coronet (strong anti-mob and boss part destroyer DPS but getting outshined; good skill uptime with M1)
Yao: Winter Solstice (anti-boss unit; can tear off large chunks of boss HP under the right setup but needs M1 or M2)
Fritia: Hush (a DPS unit who's just meh; only good for her ultimate and even then, it's not that good)
Marian: Swift (physical sniper DPS with an evasive skill; easily forgettable/niche uses)

Banner characters (in the order I remember they came out in) -
Acacia: Kaguya (support character but niche uses)
Chenxing: Ethereal Cloud (DPS unit for mobs and bosses with multiple target points)
Mauxir: Shadow Ka (support unit used for her "make the boss easy to shoot" support skill; niche uses)
Haru: Absconditus (fantastic anti-mob DPS unit with her sword waves; struggles on bosses)
Tess: The Magician (pure support character for elements but guys who like big boobs will love her)
Katya: Blue Bolt (Bend over and show that ass! Great all-around DPS with infinite ammo and crowd control but can't crit)
Eatchel: The Cub (healing support and that's about all she's good at...maybe some sub-DPS action but only on mobs)
Cherno: Enigma (crazy good unit against mobs and bosses; don't let that SMG fool you! her main skill is great -- radiation bombs for days)
Enya: Exuvia (support character that was recently given out for free; I haven't used her much so I can't comment yet)
The best way to avoid imitation is to make that imitation take effort. If imitators liked hard work, they wouldn't be imitators.
I guess I was just looking at the snowbreak.gg tier list and they said Acacia and Yao were still meta. I also have a Hush Fritia with the important ult unlocks and her 5* weapon. She outdamages everything I have by such a big margin, even trying some of the newer stuff on the surface
"Iwata was awesome" - Mr. Nintendo
https://i.imgur.com/krtFHol.jpg
The ones I use the most right now are Katya: Blue Bolt and Cherno: Enigma for attacking, Eatchel: The Cub as my main healer and Yao: Quiet Quitter as my secondary healer, and Tess: the Magician for buffs or someone as a sub-DPS.

Katya can't crit but, as I already mentioned, she has unlimited ammo. She can switch between her higher damaging crossbow bolts or wide area explosive bolts for crowd control at the cost of some damage per shot. Either is pretty strong. Her main skill makes her function like a turret and shoot faster but she can't move while in that stance (can dodge out of it though). Her dodge is also a teleport. As long as you can hit a target, she'll drain that enemy's HP really quickly with her turret skill. The skill has a shot limit but you can recharge it by shooting things outside of that mode. Sure, not being able to crit kinda sucks but who cares about that when you never need to reload! (The reload button switches her ammo between regular bolts and the explosive ones)

Cherno: Enigma is new with this current event is one I'm having a ton of fun with. You can plant a large sphere over the enemy with her regular skill (up to three on the field at once) that sticks around for a long time and passively damages enemies near them. You can abuse this for set-it-and-forget-it tactics to kill mobs passively.

You'll also notice a purple gauge over enemies--fill that up by shooting them until it's full and then hold the skill button while they're next to your spheres to detonate them for massive damage. It's extremely effective on both mobs and bosses. Her ult sets all three spheres on the enemy at once while switching with Meursault for a bit and causing some damage. You then get to play as Meursault for a while before switching back to Cherno (although it's just a hair color inversion).

Eatchel can heal you passively just by being on the team. No need to switch, use a skill, or stay near a drone to stay topped up. Her damage is okay and I like her regular skill's ability to group enemies but I use her mainly to not have to worry about my health in stages where I expect to take a lot of damage.

Those are just some examples of what the newer units can do.
The best way to avoid imitation is to make that imitation take effort. If imitators liked hard work, they wouldn't be imitators.
This is a little late, but heres my what are you playing? post.

I quit Snowbreak back when Eatchel came out. In fact the very last thing I did before closing my account was pull for her. I dont like the direction theyre taking the game anymore.

I gave Star Rail another try a few weeks ago, but quit before getting to the point I did originally. If it was a normal game without the gacha and item grind, Id probably like it.

Ill give Wuthering Waves and ZZZ a try when they come out, but I know I wont like them.

I think the lewdness in Snowbreak is good. Cuz it's either that or they just die. They had like bottom tier rev, now they're literally like #2 of the month in China and growing elsewhere. It's really hard to blame them at all

But I really have a bone to pick with their gameplay. I think they're still suffering from the problems of launch. Mobs take 3-4 headshots, and there are too many of them with them bobbing their head. In a vacuum, they're usually not problematic difficulty wise. But their biggest issue is that they're really annoying and time consuming, and they take center stage in story and various event modes. Bosses are fine, but sometimes they're a bit too difficult without seriously growing your characters.

I don't consider my box to be too shabby, and Hush Fritia completely ravages some bosses. But this game could probably benefit from being less time consuming.

Also I did get access to my old account. It took... a lot of guessing. Customer Support sounded like they don't even speak fluent English

You'll either love that Snowbreak is becoming Coomerbreak or you'll be put off by it. I don't really care one way or the other. At least the game is performing better in revenue, so I guess the devs are doing something right by leaning more into fanservice and the harem fantasy. That's not going to be everyone's cup of tea though.

I take it you're more used to shooters where "headshot = instant death"? That would make sense. To me, it's just a different rule attached to headshots with "headshot = guaranteed critical hit (unless you're using Katya)". At least the rules are consistently applied instead of those games where, "Well, it depends on what enemy you're talking about, what stage, your character, what weapon, what day of the month it is, and how sadistic the programmer felt when coding this all up." I don't like inconsistent rules in my games.

If stages took over 5 minutes for me to finish, I would agree with you that it's time consuming for what are supposed to be tiny, bite-sized stages on the go but I guess I'm one of those weirdos who likes somewhat spongy enemies. I can see where cutting that in half (or more) would respect some people's time better.
The best way to avoid imitation is to make that imitation take effort. If imitators liked hard work, they wouldn't be imitators.
I'm not expecting a headshot = 1 shot, but it feels like the only time sensible way to kill mobs. They're basically punching bags anyways, and they take too damn long to kill. I know there are mob killers but goddammit I don't have the fucking resources to pull or build them.

Another thing is that I was playing Multiplayer, and the biggest problem with Hush Fritia are things so unrelated to anything. Her ult takes a billion long yr of cutscene to start, and you also don't have sight of the enemy til it happens, so you whiff a few milliseconds of the tick to start. Also because the ult takes so long, the enemies crowd around you, and now the ult doesn't know who to hit or where to go, but because they purposely made it so there's a rotation speed, to kill some crowding enemies around you, you gotta slowly turn the other way, and the ult is nearly finished by then

Seems like an easy UX thing to fix, and I was shocked they buffed her without fixing those little things. I don't need to see animations every time my friends, at least give me the option
