If it's any consolation, the protestors will be remembered as being on the right side of history years later, just as they were every other time you mentioned.

It won't mean much if the next people to write history are Republicans, in which case they will be remembered as pro-Hamas terrorist supporters and inherently anti-Semitic.

A lot of U.S. history is taught with a rosy lens that is apologetic to our actual history and the damage/atrocities we've caused. And when we get more clarification on that, certain people regard it as "revisionist history", because "that's not the way I was taught it as a child".

Just saying, there are things viewed differently 100+ years later because of a more considerate historical perspective, this could be one of those things.
