Meanwhile, Nintendo lets it through. It's crazy to think that Sony won't even let an art book through without demanding that pages be changed.
What exactly is being changed?

Well, from what I have heard from people who have the Japanese art book they are pretty sure they know the exact artwork that is probably the subject of this.. which is a fully nude piece or art of a 12 year old girl so. Ya

Okay yeah, in this case I agree with the censorship.

Nothing to report here
More Sony censorship and yet people will tell you companies censor stuff completely voluntarily when working with Sony.

If that's the case I shocked Nintendo is leaving it uncensored. That's like the one thing a company usually does not want to be associated with in almost all cases.

That was posted based on only what the OP said, when I responded the other posts were not there yet. Didn't expect expect it to be bad since Nintendo didn't censor anything. I thought it was the usual fair of Sony over censoring.

The remake of Tsukihime has no nudity, as it was made for consoles and it would be never have been released on them if so. I've only read the original Tsukihime and I don't remember any characters that young. Everyone is 18 or older.

Its the art book, not the game itself this is the subject to, and one of the pieces of art in the art book is a picture of a character nude when they were 12 years old

Yeah, that is not the hill to fight an anti censorship battle on.

Not visual novels. They're notoriously prudish about this sort of thing. You can at least install uncensored patches on PC.

If I had to make a guess, its mostly just due to Nintendo still having its headquarters is Japan is more in tune to the Japanese sensibilities of nudity is given a pass mostly unless its outright sexual compared to PlayStation, whose headquarters is in California is more beholden to the American sensibilities of nudity is smut and immoral and needs to be purged

Basically. Opposing censorship needs to stay neutral to the material.

True, that is a problem. iirc that's part of the reason why Republicans have been going after lgbt books that aren't pornographic.
In this case since Nintendo is releasing it unaltered I'd doubt any genitals are visible let alone there being anything sexual. Did the people with the unaltered artbook say if the nudity was genuine nudity or like barbie doll anatomy nudity or merely topless?

Yeah, if that's true, then it's more than justified.

There are limitations. For example, would you want rampant hate speech to be uncensored? Either way, from an optics perspective, it doesn't look good to be fighting on this particular case, like when people got upset over the modification to underwear in Chrono Cross.

Some people also got upset when certain outfits in Xenoblade X worn by Lin, 13-year-old girl, were censored in the Western versions. Yeah, some of the alterations--such as the removal of the bust slider and the universal changes to the fundoshi outfit set--were needless, but the censorship to Lin was absolutely necessary.

I'm genuinely curious what instances there have been where hate speech is censored. The things that pop up first in my mind are huckleberry finn, gone with the wind, and quentin tarantino films that generally keep their language due to either historical context or villains using them.

I took a look at the image in question (although we're still not sure if this is the image that was supposedly censored).

She's wearing a cape, her hands are outstretched covering her breasts. You can see the rest of her naked body (but nothing detailed "down there"). The story may say she's 12, but she looks a lot older than that.

That sounds like barbie doll anatomy. Although it's kind of weird that the top is actively covered but not the bottom. I figured this was a concept art thing.

The wiki for the game (which I guess anyone can edit, so who knows if it's accurate) says the character is 25

Well, ok maybe not.
I read more into the wiki and I guess that the character had an "evil version" of themselves that was split off when the character was 12.

Are you seriously over here complaining Sony censored a 12 year old nude art, but why didn't Nintendo?

This seriously the hill you want to die on? That Sony should embrace nude 12 year old art because Nintendo shamelessly did?

The victim complex goes hand in hand with hypocrisy.

The group who wants hate speech unchecked, are the same people seeking to censor lgbt stuff.
But if you clamp down on hate speech, they'll cry censorship.

My point is that Nintendo looked at the art book and found that it was fine and didn't violate any guidelines. You'd think if any company was going to complain, it'd be Nintendo.

Why should Nintendo feel shame if there was no sensuality involved?
When I saw this post on Twitter earlier, someone posted a particular character they felt was likely to be censored, and they didnt look 12. And now later posts ITT seem to be indicating that that age wasnt really accurate? So I guess I have no idea personally, but its worth questioning why Nintendo would let it go, and Sony wouldnt. Sony has history of seeming to be overzealous with censoring or disallowing certain subjects wholesale (so not just SB, if you believe they forced it or not), while Nintendo seems to depend more on their localization teams.

And yet California game studios have no problem making games with sexy female characters in them. Weird. Almost like this is a lie.

His post was not about sexy characters but about equating nudity with sex and adult content. This is kind of his point tbh.
So people are actually angry that they cant see a naked 12 year old in an art book that has no bearing on the game itself?

I just cannot side with anti-censorship people most of the time because this is what they decide to rally against

The fact that Nintendo allows those smutty AI generated Hentai games in their store shows how lax they are on this type of stuff. If it's true that it's a twelve year old girl, fair next for me.

yea the rest of the censored stuff in xenoblade X where weird they where not a big deal or anything just head scratching

like ok i get why you may not want ppl making bust short girls (i think its an over reaction but i get it) so why not just make height limit the bust sliders max setting rather than just removing the slider
