I bet tc rates breaking bad as a 10/10 and thinks it was the greatest finale ever.

That or big bang theory.
Breaking Bad went downhill as fuck with the last season and I've never watched TBB.

You're acting like I dogpiled the show in my OP when I flat out said they did great world building and I'm excited to see what they do with a second season lmao clown emoji

Why? Moldaver worked for companies that were bought by Vault-Tec, it's not like she was working independently and sold her research. And it's not like Hank was in charge of buying companies

I dunno, corporate culture. Young Hank struck me as a really ass kisser, the type to want to know everything about everyone so he can impress his boss.

It feels nitpicky, but it's still bothering me lol
So! You want to hear a story, eh?

6.5 out of 10 is still a ridiculous rating for such a great show.

I'm of the opinion that it's similar to the Mandalorian: 7.5-8/10 in a bubble, 11/10 when compared to most of the other dreck in its genre / franchise.
Simple questions deserve long-winded answers that no one will bother to read.
Maximus was my least favorite character. Everything he did was just so dumb. The way he talked and behaved was off too. His whole character was just a weird sort of incompetence and stupidity. It really felt like he truly didn't understand the situations he found himself in. I saw it suggested that he's possibly supposed to have some sort of mental disability, and watching his actions with that in mind made much more sense. It was the only way I found him tolerable.

If it turns out that he's really just a dumb guy, with anger issues, then I feel he's the worst character in the whole show.

Like I said in my op, half the season was a boring side quest. Episodes 3-6 were underwhelming compared to 1, 2, 7 and 8. Anytime Maximus was supposed to be leading a scene the quality suffered as well.

Everyone has different opinions. The show was watchable, but I sure as hell wouldn't consider it great. There were several moments throughout where it was downright bad.
cut down the fluff and do more 40 min eps for season 2

The average is pretty damn high though and if you only compare it to other video game adaptations it's considered pretty damn great. Just because every moment is not a fucking masterpiece of cinema or some shit doesn't mean it's bad, this is like playing a 40 hour video game and 1 hour of that 40 hours isn't the best and your like "Meh game!"

I mean most video game adaptations are notoriously bad because they're almost always half-assed, so in this case this show is better by default because they actually tried.

And not every scene has to be perfect. No show is perfect. But there's also no reason to ignore when a show has serious flaws, and this series has some big ones.
Meh. Personally I enjoyed the world building, particularly as someone that hadn't played any of the games.

That was the entire point of those episodes. It was meant to mimic that in the games, players got easily distracted by sidequests.

Cooper actually had a line that kinda referenced the idea of side plots and things not going to plan if I recall correctly

These were in episode 3 when the the gulper got the head and cooper and her went to get him some more medicine or whatever it's called.

Made me think of the idea of side quests.

Sure, but this is live action, not a video game.
I loved that part of it. Bethesda games are absolutely known as never complete the main story until every inch of the game has been fully explored type games. So having the main quest just kind of slowly completely itself in the background while everyone spent most of their time distracted with side quests felt like the perfect vibe to me.

Everything with the Brotherhood and Maximus. Up until the last episode, the brotherhood stuff dragged the show down. They were corny as hell, from the characters' personalities to their dialogue. They were more like larpers than some serious organization. The last episode was a step in the right direction though.

As for Maximus, he's easily the worst character in the show. Nothing against the actor at all, but it seems like they didn't know what to do with him. He came across as a sociopath, with his constant lying, impulsiveness, and selfish tendencies. He lies to Thaddeus, then bungles the whole conversation where he admits the truth and then threatens to kill his "friend" after he does a piss-poor job of explaining things. They also took way too long to reveal that he didn't actually hurt Dane, which was a weird decision when the show still wanted to make him seem heroic as well. He was an immature idiot that the brotherhood had no reason to trust, especially when he returned with the wrong head. I half expected him to snap and wind up being an actual psycho.

Then there's the Enclave scientist getting away with something apparently super valuable (damn that turret sucked) and not having any one of them go after him. The Enclave are supposed to be a pretty big deal. Showing them to be super incompetent before they even play a larger part in the story was odd.

There are other things too, but it's getting late and I'm tired.

I hated this. He was way more interesting with the possibility that he did do it. He was actually my favorite character to start with because he did seem like a psychopath that just so happened to be on the "good" side. But it turns out he's just an idiot.

The turrets are apparently pretty accurate to the game tbf.

And the Enclave did put out a massive bounty on him.

also was that water chip failure line just a throwaway reference to the first game?

I thought it would be a big deal and they'd have to plan getting everyone to the surface but noooooope, never mentioned again like it never happened lol

i would give it an 8/10. it was really good imo and better than i expected. the story wasn't quite as focused as i would have hoped for, but it tied most everything together and every aspect of it was good quality

I personally saw it as a Manufactured Problem by Betty. Happened right before the election, and served as a way to make people want to vote her back as Overseer because of her having been Overseer before. Always a crisis during election year, after all.

When things look glum, vote 31.
