I can't imagine the AI saying sir this is a Wendy's

Does it at least get paid $20 an hour?

So

Can people send their smartcar to pick up fast food from other robots? Because that's would be incredible
I hate it.

Welp, fuck Wendy's
...it got the order right, what's the problem?

Curious how itll work for people with heavy accents. I could imagine that being a very terrible time.
Seems like it works fine so long as the person clearly states what they want, isn't playing loud music, doesn't have screaming kids in the car, doesn't have a thick accent, actually knows the name of the thing they want to order, etc.

Imagine this AI constantly adding items to your order because you're reading the menu options to somebody who either can't see it or can't read it, and asking them if/how they want to modify the sandwich.
Just don't be the guy behind the guy making a bunch of custom orders.
Italian, French, German.
Nearly $3 for a medium frosty just in case anyone tries to come in suggesting the money saved not hiring humans will be reflected by menu prices.

Possibly, but on the flip side multilingual chat bots are pretty close to being a solved problem, meeting in the future you could pull up to a Wendy's and order in whatever language you want and it would be able to understand and respond. So the people with thick accents could just speak in their native tongue.

They had this at checkers too. It's definitely a trip when you're not expecting it.

Surely, not having to pay as many workers will lower prices.

Imagine being able to order a frosty in Klingon.

Can't wait for all of the fuckups that will come with this lmao.
Sometimes I like to ask the person what comes on a sandwich or something like that. Will the AI be able to handle that kind of interaction?

Surely

It's so crazy how these things increase the profits of companies due to lower costs, but then we can never go backward, because the business then claims that it would bankrupt them.

Like, in the 50s, companies paid just fine. People could live off those wages. And the companies survived. So why can't we go back to those wages? Because it'll "bankrupt companies". Even though it didn't back in the day.

I see the same thing here. These fast food places were doing just fine with human workers. None of them were going out of business. But now I bet in the future the AI will totally take over, and they can't go back to human workers because they'll claim they can't afford to. But somehow in the past they could.

I'd imagine it probably isn't likely to be a problem for the same reason it isn't a problem with a live person: You're not speaking loudly to the speaker, you're talking to somebody with your head turned inside your car, so your voice won't carry like it would when ordering.

There are adults out there who are incapable of ordering properly and in person. AI is about to reveal these issues

Also did it set it up so that you have to visit their page? Cause some twitwr videos can be played here, but I had to click twice (both takin me to a different page) in order to see this.

This was always going to happen, the only question now is how well it actually works in practice.

By default if you don't have a twitter account the website only lets you go one link deep before asking you to sign it. It didn't use to be that way.

If this has to happen, hopefully they keep someone in reserve to take over if the AI just can't figure it out. Wonder how well it can understand other languages. It'd actually be pretty neat if there were a bunch programmed in and possibly overcome a language barrier.

The McDonald's by my house has been doing this for awhile now, and it fucking sucks so they always have to have an employee take over when the AI can't get the order right

Not surprised. I believe it was Wendy's that experimented with outsourcing their drive thrus to call centers a decade ago.
