Tik Tok is pretty trash. Good shit,.Most of the younger crowd say otherwise, and those are the people President Biden needs to sway to win.
And here, we, go...
I hope everyone supporting this understands the precedent this sets.
Another win for the nanny state
Is Tiktok being banned for political reasons more than security ones?

Thats a great bill. I would love to see how they are going to enforce this without looking completely inept at how the internet works.I mean they are completely inept at how the internet works. They've already proved this numerous times.

Never used the app, but all the Zoomer and Alpha kids are going to be crying.I mean wouldnt you be pissed if something you enjoyed was literally banned by the government for entirely political reasons?
I hope everyone supporting this understands the precedent this sets. This does set a bad precedent, because it opens the door to censorship of any platforms the government doesn't agree with based on concerns of "nation security", but in this case, well... the platform is a genuine concern for national security. Tiktok is in the pocket of the CCP, no two ways about it. All platforms are of course guilty of harvesting and selling user data, but Tiktok takes that to the nth extreme, infiltrating every other app and message on every device in the hands of millions of Americans every single day. All of this information goes directly to China. They also deliberately censor harmful information about China on the platform, use it to spread propaganda, etc. etc. etc.

We still have people assuming the Internet is a fad that will die off sooner or later.

Moon has a couple pretty good videos about this on Youtube.
Never used the app, but all the Zoomer and Alpha kids are going to be crying.
Wow another win for government oppression and censorship with people cheering no less, people continue to prove more and more stupid by the day.But Chiner!!
The solution in this bill is literally just keeping the app in its current form, but allowing the US to do the spying instead. They don't want outsiders to be able to influence. They want to be the only ones. Also, doesn't help if soldiers use it to give away sensitive information. That's just regular American standards.
Do not be fooled at the intentions here.
But Chiner!!Who can't use the data collected on US citizens for anything HOWEVER the US government CAN use the data against their own people. I wonder if the same people cheering will be cheering when they are herded into a re education camp which is what this censorship ultimately leads too,
I hope everyone supporting this understands the precedent this sets.

Is this really going to solve anything?
Like, best case scenario, TikTok is gone, but the only thing that changes is there's incentive for Youtube, Instagram, Facebook, etc... to push their shitty short video products even harder because there's now this huge hole in the market.
How much extra effort is it really going to be for China or Russia or wherever to get all this data from Google or Meta, given that same data is literally what they sell ?
Tik Tok is pretty trash. Good shit,.Okay, but...this is an awful way to go about things. Like, really awful. I don't think this will end up the way they think it will.
Most of the younger crowd say otherwise, and those are the people President Biden needs to sway to win....No. Just...no.
I mean they are completely inept at how the internet works. They've already proved this numerous times. You're completely inept on how everything works, and that's been proven time and time again. That doesn't stop you from coming back here.
The solution in this bill is literally just keeping the app in its current form, but allowing the US to do the spying instead.Actually, no. The app, with ByteDance divesting from it, will not be as it currently is. First of all, the way it harvests data and sends it back to China for their government to build their database is going away. Regardless of what one thinks about the data collection that social media apps grab, what China does with this info and what others do with it are not the same. Second, the app will be "worse" for the users when it comes to serving up videos. Because ByteDance is not going to give up their proprietary algorithms. So what the US company ends up getting will not be nearly as effective as it is now.
Do not be fooled at the intentions here.
Democrats love losing.Naturally, you find a way to blame the Democrats for this. You are sadly predictable in your reactions to things.
Is Tiktok being banned for political reasons more than security ones? No. I'd like that to be the case but you don't see this happening to any other social media company and they all deserve it to a degree.
o. I'd like that to be the case but you don't see this happening to any other social media company and they all deserve it to a degree.
Anyway I think the ban of TikTok is a step in the right direction, with tiktok specifically being owned by an enemy of the US.
Regardless of what you think about TikTok this is not a good precedent to set.
Finally a glimmer of hope for our children to go outside again! It will be replaced by another app.
But a racist South African who is propping up the Republican party is okay to run Twitter ?What sort of a non-sequiter is this? How exactly is Elon Musk a puppet of an enemy of the US? Maybe I don't want the answer. Anyway I'm all for the eradication of Twitter too, but not via this same process.
Regardless of what you think about TikTok this is not a good precedent to set.The precedent was set with the Russia election tampering. The US is considerably behind on cyber social engineering countermeasures.
