Yeah, I've never watched these guys, but I love some harmless internet drama and apparently their fans were pissed . They lost 100k subscribers over the weekend.
And apparently this announcement coincided with an announcement that they're doing their own version of a Buzzfeed show called Worth It where they compared food dishes from cheap, midrange, and expensive restaurants. I'm seeing more than a couple complaints on their subreddit about them claiming poverty while doing a series where "Steve eats thousand dollar gold-sprinkled steak."
What's the TL;DR of this drama? They're claiming they don't make enough money from YouTube so they're moving to a subscription service. Fans point out that they only release a few videos a month and have a studio in Hollywood with 25 employees.

$6 a month to watch one youtube channel putout a couple of videos is an interesting streaming decision...Yeah, it's kind of wild. Dropout costs that much and I think they put out a video every weekday.
They get like a million views every video. How are they not making money? Sounds like poor money management to me (like having your office in fucking hollywood)Oh, believe me, a lot of people pointed out that these guys first got big on Buzzfeed Unsolved, sitting in a concrete room and using colored text on a black screen.
