Are they trying to sabotage themselves?
this is literally what the people of Texas voted for because they believe in the rugged individualism that makes us tough, not that wimpy socialism
Are they trying to sabotage themselves?
Sadly a large percentage of these people likely would not support these actions provided they were actually properly educated on what was going on instead of just taking Fox News at face value.
Didn't read the article, is this where the parent/guardian didn't re enroll the kid for the new plan year?
It's important to note, however, that a substantial number of those who no longer have Medicaid were removed for procedural reasons. The KFF found that 69 percent of those removed no longer had coverage because they didn't complete the renewal process.
That frequently happens when states no longer have current contact information for the enrollees or if the enrollee doesn't know or understand how to complete the renewal within a set time. In Texas, it accounted for 66 percent of those removed.
Pro life state.
i mean, if we just give those kids healthcare for free, we'll just setup a lifetime of expectations to receive handouts instead of learning to be self reliant. we are literally doing them a disservice by giving them things.
Chuds, care to explain how this is supposed to be a good thing?

If anyone actually read the article. Nearly 20 million Americans lost their medicaid, 1.3 million of them being kids, not 1.9. That was the overall, along with adults. But Texas also kept on about 2 million on Medicaid.
Also, they didn't kick them out because, "Fuck them kids", they just didn't renewal.
Chris Fong, CEO of Smile Insurance Group, said the heightened numbers in Texas likely reflect that it's one of the states making it more challenging to qualify, apply or even speak with someone in the Medicaid department.
But in Texas, it's likely the lower-than-average Medicaid income limit for children has led to many getting kicked off in the aftermath of the pandemic-era policy.
i already pointed out the typo in the title. but the 1.9 vs 1.3 is not the significant thing here, it's what is happening and why.Dude, they didn't renewal. Like any other membership, if you don't renewal by a certain time, you lose the membership. They didn't just go "Fuck you" and punt them. Blame the kid's adults/caretakers more, as they should be on top of these things for them.
and
conservative states have been actively trying to reduce Medicaid coverage, Texas is just being more aggressive about it.

ower-than-average Medicaid income limit for children has led to many getting kicked off in the aftermath of the pandemic-era policy. But it TOTLLY has nothing to do with policies in Texas exasperating a problem. No sir. Totally just the parent's fault when the state makes it harder.
this is why conservatives _hate_ education for the masses
But it TOTLLY has nothing to do with policies in Texas exasperating a problem. No sir. Totally just the parent's fault when the state makes it harder. You do realize it's required by law to send them a notice through email, phone, or through post mail that their medicaid will be ending soon, and direct them to a website to update their information, or fill out the forms they get through post mail if they want to do it physically? Yes? Stop fucking trying to find an excuse.

Adding to the frustration of Texans who have lost Medicaid in recent months is that most of them, including Harper, werent actually deemed ineligible for the program. Nearly 1.2 million were removed for procedural reasons, stymied by the red tape of the renewal process. As of last month, this included more than 858,000 kids. In some of these cases, according to Medicaid advocates, families moved and never received the letter informing them that they needed to submit certain income information, or the notification was written in a language they dont read, or they submitted paperwork but it was missing a signature, or they needed assistance renewing their coverage but couldnt get through to HHSC by calling 211.
Terry Anstee, an attorney with Disability Rights Texas, said hes seen situations in which the state determined people no longer qualified for Medicaid under one eligibility criterion and removed them, even though they were eligible under another. Other applicants appeared to have done everything right but were erroneously kicked off anyway.
While other states have relied more heavily on first checking eligibility through readily available data sources, Texas has renewed fewer than 3 percent of Medicaid enrollees this waythe lowest rate in the country.
this is literally what the people of Texas voted for because they believe in the rugged individualism that makes us tough, not that wimpy socialism. so the folks of Texas want these kids to go dig up some bootstraps, get a job and pay their own way.ironic af considering such a considerately large amount of well-financed native Texans of that pseudo-grit mentality are usually pridefully nepotist businessmen and/or trust-funders who will still buy their kids those goofy-ass lifted trucks as soon as they get a learners permit (while actively wishing other kids failure just so that their stupid mini-me can look better by comparison, thus making them feel better about themselves too b/c G00D DAD = TEACH SON GUN, SCARE DAUGHTER OF SEX WITH BIBLE, & BUY BOTH GOV-SPONSORED AUTOMOBILE-INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX PRODUCT)

what a clown show. the party of "small government" wanting to be more inefficient and obtuse.
Are they trying to sabotage themselves?
The party that always thinks of children first.
Hopefully the people running the Biden campaign take note of everything like this. The people need to know, as many people as possible across this great nation. Every horrible action republicans do this year should be ammo against them.
Really also happening to a lot of older people. What is good?
Exact same reason. They dont know they have to apply.
For a Conservative crank this is pretty good. Tons of people are perishing due to lack of knowledge
