hell, CE smells horrible. I can smell it through my phone
I feel like any gathering of people is gonna result in some sort of smell, but there's a reason overly competitive gamers are called "sweaty" and it's not because they have a medical issue

I saw that earlier lol. First they ban anyone who isnt Japanese race (even if they are a full fledged citizen), then this lady leaves cuz it smells too bad. That whole tournament sounds like a shitshow
Neon >_>
a buddy of mine showed me this as well as someone reviewing fandom smells and bronies? bronies were up there

It's full of sweaty Otaku of course it smells bad nerds and needs don't give a shit about hygiene so it's only natural
A worthless existence
Sure she wasn't at a SSBM event?
Insert some witty line here
I've heard these complaints about a lot of nerd events. When you enter a room full of people who don't have to worry about being clean enough for sex, it's to be expected.
This is where cool people write stuff.
Yeah the biggest yugi fan I knew was also one of the stinkiest fans I knew.

Somebody get her to co host commentator at a smash tourney.
You aren't even really reading my posts; you're just staring at your e-mail client and fondly reminiscing about that hobo you stabbed to death. :P
No shock there. I can't imagine the stank at some of those things
You're nearly a laugh but you're really a cry

Isn't the game on its literal last legs and no one, not even Konami or the fanbase want stuff to change drastically just so they can keep playing their ultra expensive pet deck and push out newer players? This feels like a byproduct of this and it'll only get worse from here.
"Do you like Scary movies?"
It better not be yubel finally got good

Putin delenda est
They really need the YGO rule from competitive USA play that disqualifies stinky players.
So Yugioh players are the Smash players of the TCG fandom?
DI MOLTO!
What did she expect?

These events have ceaseless reminders about hygiene because it's always so bad.

Why is hygiene so unpopular?

Also wash your ass. Too many times I'd walk by someone and suddenly get punched in the face by some foul stank.

My wife and I met up with a buddy from here at the time at a Final Fantasy music concert like 15-20 years ago. She was like, what is that smell, is it BO?

I was like, nah.. some folks are not wiping themselves very well.

She was pretty disgusted. But we did finish the concert. It was a good time. And the buddy from here was fine, it was several of the other attendees that were the issue.

I hear people will legit stink themselves up just to throw off their opponents. Just in general for any competition. Anyways hygiene judges should be a thing.
Kotaku truly is desperate for articles if this qualify as "news".

I've been to a few small MTG events, and there definitely is a certain smell.

A lot of news outlets report on semi viral Twitter threads. The future is now.
I've gone to a lot of these nerd events in the past 10 years and honestly, they've gotten a lot better about this. Most of them have pretty blatant hygiene reminders that seem to be working.

No fucking clue why liking games or other things and being socially awkward means you don't believe in showering.

I actually got to take a picture with this legend, but I think he's still banned at MTG events lol.

Lol this talk about low hanging fructose.

But honestly? I went to a film festival once and actually walked out of the screening for one of the movies because it smelled so bad in there. So it's not just gamers surprisingly enough, even a respectable for adults medium like cinema also has smelly people. Pretty crazy reveal all around.

No, it's quite literally the most profitable TCG atm worldwide. Pokemon is 2nd because it's Pokemon, and MTG is 3rd with its finances being sorta under wraps and not positive due to a myriad of bad decisions from Hasbro.

The last time they changed the game drastically, they permanently lost their strong 1st place footing in Japan

Actually yeah there is a rule that says judges are allowed to disqualify people who haven't had proper hygiene. I've never heard of it reinforced though, but this news will probably start making ppl take it more seriously

I always find it amazing that people who are so unkempt are willing to go into public. I would associate such behaviors with being NEETS.
