I've only ever done them in Deus Ex and Dishonored
She/Her
She is like a cat in the dark. And then she is the darkness
There's also Undertale where you literally get the best ending by going completely pacifist.

I like games where you can talk your way through encounters rather than always defaulting to combat.

How many games even do this?
I am a mess and Felicia is the cleaner....
I haven't played many games where it's a thing. Only Mirror's Edge, which was really hard to do lol

Typically rpgs only. Western ones, specifically.
A show of kindness may not do much help, but a show of cruelty may do much harm.

Planescape: Torment has something like 6 fights in the entire game that you flat out have to do.

if they can make it fun, yes. If the game is largely built around combat, and all youre doing is skipping the combat, then its kind of just a pointless option.
When skipping combat means passing a skill check and keep some generic NPCs hanging around, I'm good.
This is a cool sig
Not sure how much it counts, but these days whenever I play Subnautica I almost always do a vegetarian playthrough. Makes the game a little more challenging, as you have to be more resourceful and proactive when it comes to foraging.
The only times I do kill a creature is if I accidentally bump into them with a vehicle.
One time, CE triggered me so hard with their objectively wrong opinions that I accidentally punched myself in the balls.
Nah it's too boring

I like it when they actually give you good options for it. I don't like it when it hampers you and locks you out of using really cool abilities. Deus Ex and MGS (especially V) do it the best imo.

If there's a way to not hurt things in games, I'm doing it.

This is basically the best route for MGS games.

yes and no

i like the challenge of having to avoid killing, like in hitman, or metal gear

i DISLIKE when games dont balance it right (imo)

like take dishonored. phenomenal game. very creative and fun to play. i will never know what is like to kill in it, because story and future mechanics are tied to killing

like, it's not "canon", and it "punishes" you later. im not into that. when its done like that, it feels obligatory, yk?

Admittedly, but damn is the game easier when you can just kill people and their bodies disappear.

Came here to say this. I remember beating MGS 4 no killing, tranq only. I was so proud lol
Would you follow a blind man?
I would if I was in the dark
I like going for no kill runs in MGS games. Except for the bosses, Ill try out the weapons on them, because I have an entire armory in my backpack and Im gonna use it.
I have heard you can do a pacifist route in Planescape Torment. Or at least, with the final boss. Supposedly there is an option to talk it out with the final boss instead of fighting.
if it's an option, sure

no because inevitably some NPC will piss me off and I'll want to kill them
I could see you, but I couldn't hear you You were holding your hat in the breeze Turning away from me In this moment you were stolen...
Yeah, if they put it in, they obviously wanted you to use it. I also like when the enemy has some useful device or item, and you can either destroy it to immediately beat the mission, or do some extra work to take it for yourself.

I like it when it works with the narrative. For example in Watch Dogs 1 and 2 they give you all kinds of weapons to use but IMO those games are at their best when you try your hardest to get through and not kill anyone
Sack to crack, going to town
I wouldn't say I enjoy it exactly. But I will do it for a challenge or trophy.

I have gotten it unintentionally on speed runs.

Yeah, I prefer not to kill in MGS and games like it if I can help it.
Many Bothans died to bring you this post.
I enjoy having a choice for most enemies, like I never kill the rats in Tomb Raider, they're just chilling in the cistern, swimming around, have the time of their life!
I'm not gonna be that guy and crash their party and mass murder them, hell nah, I'm jumping in and having a swim with them, good times, worst case scenario I get some love bites, it's all good, I ain't even mad.

Pierre, the gorillas and the crocodiles had it long time coming though. They're getting gunned down on sight.
Kill the legs first, that's an ironclad battle tactic!

Talk-no-jutsu gets the most xp and the best wrist rewards in most games.

Also, I just find I can't really be an asshole in those games, even when it's consequence-free. Might take the sarcastic good option, though, sometimes.

So, talking is always my best option.

Yeap have done it often in Fallout 1 and 2.
In Shadowrun: Hong Kong, there are many fights you can resolve by just talking it out depending on your charisma level & chosen etiquettes.

The last boss in the DLC can also be defeated without killing anyone if you fulfill several requirements. ( Her contractor has decided to double-cross her after the job is done and you got the deeds on that )

Cuphead was my first thought. That game wants you to beat all its platformer levels without shooting once.
I wouldn't exactly call it fun.
Still waiting on that third threat
Yes, so long as it's something interesting. A simple dice roll to avoid playing the game? That's no good. Offering an entirely new way of playing the game with different rewards and even story? That's great.

They can be really fun in some games. I remember Deus Ex on 360 was considered best this way. MGS3 is really fun played non-lethally as well.

It was shit in Dishonored since they didn't give you any easy nonlethal options for dealing with enemies once you'd been detected, but it was pretty fun in Dishonored 2 as Emily with that Mesmerize ability.
Are we the baddies?
I like it being an option, but I'd never do it.

Depends on the game. I beat Mankind Divided as a pacifist because its still fun to play. In a lot of games, it just makes things boring though.
