It's even less effort than that. Many places will put lemons in your water if you ask. And there's often already sugar packets at the table (usually for the coffee drinkers).

The reddit post in the OP mentions the water as a side thing to the larger complaint of them sitting there for hours, eating nothing but unlimited soup or salad. They were being cheap as fuck, wasted his time for hours, and then left no tip.
