can you even call it food tampering when all 3 ingredients are perfectly consumable?
I'd assume so, since:

would definitely be considered food tampering.

On fairness, you should be eating your salad without dressing. Literally makes your healthy, tasty meal unhealthy and disgusting.

I really don't get how people stand the shit.

People will drown their salad in so much dressing that eating a burger would be less calories, then wonder why they aren't losing weight.

(That said I do think some low fat dressing can improve a salad)

Oh yes.

But it would also be a core memory.

If they'd planned it well, the boy would have had hotter and hotter drinks outside of school (with chili), and then come into school with his hot drink, said to everyone in school he loves drinking chili'd drinks and make everyone aware that he drinks liquid ghost chili's, and then when the bully drinks it...
Well, it's not tampering.

I feel like this is a good point. How do you tamper your own food? It'd be one thing if they gave it to the bully, but the bully stole it. "Setting a trap" and "tampering with food" sounds more appropriate if it was the bully's drink to begin with.

This is like making your food spicy, and then someone at work eats your food and complains that it's spicy.

Hopefully the bully that steals people's food without knowing what it is doesn't have any sort of severe allergic reaction to some foods.

Also, Little Monsters is a great movie!
Rage is a hell of an anesthetic.
I just decided to Google Fred Savage since I don't think I've seen him since the Wonder Years. Got damn, he looks like Papa John now.

If it was actually poison, fair enough on taking action against the mom. It's not. It's just edible things that taste gross when combined.

She should have used that hot and spicy mountain dew. Stuff was awful.
The law is wrong on this one. The mom prepared a beverage intended for her son. She in no way coerced or coaxed the bully into drinking said beverage. The bully stole and drank the beverage through their own volition. Consider a scenario where the bully isn't in the picture. Would it have been a crime for the mother to serve her son this beverage? Of course not. So why does the existence of the bully change this fact? To even attempt a guilty verdict would mean claiming that she was clairvoyant and knew with 100% certainty that the bully would steal, which of course cannot be proven. Hope she finds a good lawyer.
This sentence has five words. This sentence has eight words. Only one sentence in this signature is true.
So I finally read the article, and wow at this.
Her son "will be subject to disciplinary actions in accordance with Legacy policies governing student conduct," a school official said.
The fucking son is going to be in trouble too.

How did they know that she did it? Its pretty weird but she probably shouldve just encouraged her kid to say they did it since the authorities are so much more lenient on children (which is how bullies can bully in the first place).
Then again, this is Texas. The bullied kid is probably in some marginalized group.
She told officials that she's a nurse and knew that the mixture she made was nontoxic, according to the arrest warrant.
"Jennifer Rossi stated she takes full responsibility for what happened," officials wrote in the warrant.

She admitted it. She absolutely should not be punished though since the mixture isn't even toxic. If I had some homemade soup that was absolutely vile but safe to consume, I shouldn't get punished for another kid stealing it.

One time I accidentally drank a water bottle my wife was keeping salad dressing in. It tasted terrible, but aside from spending a good 20 minutes rinsing the taste out of my mouth it did nothing to my stomach or head. Sounds like blowing things way out of proportion.
Every day I wake up and promise I will be nice to everyone, then I deal with people at work and remember why that will never happen.
The police investigation at Legacy Traditional School - Alamo Ranch began Tuesday after reports of a sick child, authorities said. Once they arrived, deputies learned that the sick child was given the doctored drink by a classmate during gym class.

I still think it's a pretty minor incident all things considered, to the point that involving the police seems like overkill, but assuming this is accurate (as in, bully was given the lemon/salt/vinegar blend, as opposed to stealing it), I'm less inclined to side as unequivocally with the arrested mother and bullied kid. Not that it excuses bullying, but you lose some sympathy points if you trick the bully into drinking something that was offered freely.
Thus I became a madman.
Keep this story in mind during the inevitable story of a student killing another student or themselves due into bullying. I'm sure the people in charge will have the same energy.

? Does not compute for stole
I wouldn't put much stake in "given." That's coming from the nurse/bully's side/whatever, and the bully obviously wasn't going to tell anybody he stole the drink.

One could argue that the kid is under duress and anything 'given' to the bully isn't willing.

The store owner paying the mob "Please don't burn my store down" money is still being robbed.

According to ABC News , an arrest warrant affidavit revealed that the mother told her son to give the concoction to the student who fell ill because he'd stolen her sons drink the day before.

Okay, if this is true, then yeah, she is in the wrong.

Bet the little fucker is faking the "sickness" in an effort to torment his victims even more. Salt, lemon, and vinegar won't send you to the hospital. He probably gagged and spit it out immediately

Alternatively, an 11-year old told by their parent that they're going to get back at the bully might not have the cool to let things play out, and may have jumped the gun, which is probably a decent argument for not entrusting revenge plans to 11-year olds.
Thus I became a madman.

Nah, it was good judgement. It's the morons crying about the poor bully (who had to endure a bad taste in their mouth for a small moment, completely self-inflicted) who have shitty-ass judgement.

No it was very bad judgment for her to do this, because now it's likely she will face consequences well beyond what the original problem was. She really should have known better

Incorrect.

Texas mom charged because she intentionally boobytrapped/poisoned the bully, anticipating him to steal the drink. She was not arrested "because (he) stole a drink"

the commentary hyperbole here is OUTTA CONTROL!
So, how many kids did you like to bully?
It's a point and click adventure where the only action is "use gun" on "man".
It's funny, I saw the headline only and assumed the mom had given the bully bleach or something. Upon learning what she actually made, that bully is very clearly faking and the only actual crime is going after the mom and the kid for this.
