I want to refresh my memory in preparation for X-Men 97 so Ill know where the story is when it starts. I watched the old cartoon a ton as a kid, but not in the correct order. I just watched whatever episode was on TV.

I'm kinda bummed Apocalypse sounds nothing like he did in the first season. I looked it up and it's the same VA all through S4 but S4 and S1 sound nothing alike.

Yeah, I went back and re-watched the first episode.

Get used to Rogue's arse being drawn like this most of the time:

I only ever see one picture heavily shared where it looks juicy because of her body position. The one Logan is staring at, sometimes it'll be the actual scene with whatever enemy had just thrown her to the ground (I think Sabertooth).

Lmao I just found out what happened to the show in S5, production wise. Gotdamn.

Outsourced animation.

I was watching a compilation vid of Jean being useless and there was a clip where the show was somehow even uglier than usual, and I was wondering why tf did it look like that? Next video I watched answered that.

The weird thing is I remember Apocalypse was way cooler but most of his stories are lame and drawn out. His first appearance, where he grows bigger than the building, was his peak.

It was showed like that once, in all of about four years.

Because Apocalypse is the biggest jobber in Marvel Comics.

Because that was how it was drawn the majority of the time. Anyone who's claiming that the new show "nerfs" Rogue are being disingenuous about it. Though to be fair, it was mostly peddled by anti-sjw's trying to start a culture war over nothing.
DI MOLTO!

What the heck? I got that video recommended to me during my work lunch break earlier today.

No it's just a meme blowing up. That one scene where she was drawn with a substantial ass has exploded (pun intended) on the internet. Even though the rest of the time who behind looks like what it does in X-Men 97.

I am rewatching the show myself. I laugh at anyone who claims there were no political messaging in X-Men the animated series. It's not even subtle. Scenes like guards looking down on beast and not believing he could read, claims that people can't just change who they are, the allegory is obvious. And that's just the first four episodes.

And the whole series is filled with "normal" people who want to exterminate everyone who is different.

Yeah the Friends of Humanity are some real disgusting people. I was getting pissed off seeing the things they were doing. Legit domestic terrorists. And somehow worse than their counterparts irl.

If this show came out today without any changes, right-wingers would be decrying it as "woke" the same way they're doing now to its upcoming continuation.

I don't know about that . By this point, Trump's cult of personality disorders bear an uncanny resemblance to the FoH. The only things that differentiate the two to me are that:

  1. The Friends of Humanity are fictional
  2. The Friends of Humanity target specifically mutants
  3. The Friends of Humanity ditched Graydon Creed Jr. in the end
Personally, I chalk it up to how the hateful idiots that Claremont was railing against when he wrote his original run of the X-Books from the '70s to the very early '90s (which the bulk of the show drew from, as did all later comic runs and adaptations) never really went away.
You know what I never understood about the X Men in the Marvel universe?

Avengers? Fine
Fantastic Four? Fine
Everyone else? Fine
Mutants? NO MORE MUTANTS! NO MORE MUTANTS!

but they're exactly the same as literally every other superhero!

Yeah it doesn't make much sense. Getting your powers from a freak accident is fine (unless your the hulk) but being born with your powers is bad.

Didn't they remove some episodes and the production order was all over the place?
lolAmerica
They were never meant to be set in the same universe. It's kinda like how, If the Justice League exists, there's no reason for Gotham to be as grimey as it is.

Well until maga starts chucking hand grenades into community centers in broad daylight I think the FoH are worse.

Though with all the bs going on for the past decade I can't argue I might have forgotten a few incidents if there were any.

Though as I write this and think about it a bit more, the difference is the fictional version does things physically while the irl ones do it legislatively, so perhaps they're the same people after all. I was even going to mention earlier their stint with biological warfare with the techno virus but then there was COVID. :/
