The money. Every time easy decision. Not so fast, archizzy. A grand's a grand, but the lottery tickets could be anything. It could even be a grand.
1k guaranteed cash vs possibly nothing. You mean probably nothing, lotteries have long odds.
I'll take the former.
I'd take the tickets.
A G isn't life changing money cause my wife and I are financially decent. The tickets would add some fun and suspense. If I lose, whatever, it's not like I paid for 'em. If I win, sweet!
TBh I'd take the lottery tickets. Something in that pile would be bound to hit.
Not really. The odds are stacked way against you. The lottery isn't designed for the participants to profit.
I'd take the tickets.

Just recently near my town someone hit nearly 1 million on a $5 ticket. So its not impossible.
Something in that pile would be bound to hit.Lol
I usually get 70% return anywayLol
Tickets. I usually get 70% return anyway, so having a chance for a jackpot is better to me.
With the $1,000 just buy $500 in tickets and you still have $500 if you win nothing.Congratulations on being the CE poster with basic numeracy skills.
I'm well off enough where $1,000 isn't that much (if it's a one time expense). The tickets can give me the chance at winning much more money than $1,000. And $500-worth of tickets is a lot. So in my particular case, the tickets is actually the better option. And yet you still can't do basic arithmetic.
And yet you still can't do basic arithmetic.
I see it now. Use the $1,000 to go buy the lottery tickets, huh? I was operating under the assumption that that wasn't an option.Right, that or buy buy the tickets and still have 500 dollars.
I see it now. Use the $1,000 to go buy the lottery tickets, huh? I was operating under the assumption that that wasn't an option.I just take these as an either or situation. This idea that you can game the system basically ruins any of these questions when you 'well actually' it.
I'd take the tickets. So why not take the 1k and buy $500 worth of tickets? You get a guaranteed $500 and the same amount in lotto tickets, for someone that claims to be financially well off, it doesn't sound like you're that way because you're good with money lol.

No impossible, but not likely you'll so much as break even on $500 worth of tickets. It's a good deal if you like gambling and don't need an extra $1000.Not it isn't, you could just get the 1000, spend 500 on the lotto tickets and keep 500 as a sure thing.
Wouldn't a better question be $2000 in lottery tickets vs $1000 in cash?
Not it isn't, you could just get the 1000, spend 500 on the lotto tickets and keep 500 as a sure thing.Or I can take the 1k, amd spend none of it on lotto tickets.
If you really wanted $500 in lottery tickets, why wouldn't you just take the $1k and buy $500 in lottery tickets so you still have $500? Kind of a silly scenario.^.

Cause I don't want to physically go buy the tickets myself. If they're given to me for free, it's chill. Going and buying them from different vendors takes time and effort and I ain't about that for gambling purposes. Why would you need to go to more than one place? It'd take like 5-10 minutes at any random gas station.

Cause it's mentioned in the OP, so I was just assuming I had to follow those rules.
