I'm well off enough where $1,000 isn't that much (if it's a one time expense, of course). Hell, we were able to save almost 2.5 times that much this month. The tickets can give me the chance at winning much more money than $1,000. And $500-worth of tickets is a lot of tickets. So in my particular case, the tickets is actually the better option.
