Why would you even use military time when you could use UCT lmaoserious answer
serious answer
when I was doing night shifts, sometimes I'd wake up and not know whether it was daytime or afternoon because I also live in Seattle and our sun moves weird.
So military time allowed me to instantly tell night or day right after waking up.
It also removes ambiguity.
time is just a construct manyes but I also need to be able to interact with the rest of society and move on their schedule centered around the earth's revolution and rotation around the sun
Guess I'm stupid, then.no way homie
I also live in Seattle and our sun moves weird.
Ahhh so now you know what it's like for the rest of us to read your topicslike which ones?
"military time" is such a weird name for ityeah I forgot the generic name for it lol
it's just the 24 hour clock
I can, but I have to count it out.you can still do it
But I have to do that with hands on analog clocks and simple addition as well (I still have to count on my fingers for something like 8+7)
yeah I forgot the generic name for it lol
it's because most people associate it with military, at least in the USA, and also i grew up in that environment.
what does that even mean?
it's the same sun as everywhere else
IDK about Seattle, but in Alaska in the summer the sun doesn't really go down. You could wake up after a hard deep sleep and heavy night of drinking and have no fucking idea if it was 3pm, 6pm, or 1amwe have a similar issue
Seattle isn't that far North, it's on the same level as SwitzerlandLMAO
that's barely North at all
edit: sorry, i'm being North elitist for absolutely no reason there
LMAO
You know I thought the same thing, then I had my first summer here where the sun was still in the sky after 9pm
Wild stuff, latitudes

That is normal for the summer season. Your sun does not move weird.my almanac says Dallas sunset is at 830 in the peak of summer
"military time" is such a weird name for itSure it seems weird to you, you must live somewhere that is not America. Here, no one but the DOD(military) uses a 24 hour clock.

my almanac says Dallas sunset is at 830 in the peak of summerWhat time is the latest in Seattle? My brother lives there, and I live in Dallas. Also spent 4 months in Alaska.
shut the fuck up
What time is the latest in Seattle? My brother lives there, and I live in Dallas. Also spent 4 months in Alaska.not gonna consult another almanac but I swear I've seen the sun bright up in the sky past 930

But yeah, it was awful trying to get people to understand it. We had to post pages of 0800=8am ect all over for doing our time work.
24hr makes it so people dont have to think about 12am/pm.yeah this is what I meant about removing ambiguity

You can't tell the difference between day and night, yet you're calling other people stupid?don't worry, I have trouble recognizing when people are joking too
You can't tell the difference between day and night, yet you're calling other people stupid? He just learned to count past twelve so give him a break.
lmao anything more than 12 in the hour u just subtract 12The point is to say things quickly and clearly, and communicate. Seconds matter. Spending an extra 5 seconds per instance, per person, every day to tell someone pm or am, is wasted time, if you add everything up.
How hard is it to understand
You can't tell the difference between day and night, yet you're calling other people stupid?Sometimes 6pm and 6am is pitch dark. So instead of wasting time trying to ask morning/evening, you get the exact time, no confusion. This is especially important when you're communicating life/death situations and don't have time fumbling around with extra questions.
