We're whalers on the moon, we carry a harpoon. But there aint no whales so we tell tall tales and sing this whaling tune.

I wonder if they can do a live video feed from the lander. That would be cool
They are really showing a lot of their data in this explanation. I guess it makes sense since it's kind of an ad.

Hope so. NASA usually shows all their stuff, but this isn't NASA so who knows how much they'll show

I hope they actually show a video of the moon itself. Im not watching a bunch of guys sitting at ground control.
More to do with the humidity than heat
Looks like NASA is showing it on their Twitch channel too:

1700 central means it's only roughly been 20min. Surely it can't relay live...

Hmm.. small chance it crashed cause they're not getting feedback from the landing

They had to find it again because the lander picks its own landing spot

That's extremely smart if true. Not saying I don't believe it. But much better that trying to communicate that in real time.

The one commentator sounds like Tom Kenny.
Buffalo Bills
Yay
The main landing guidance system failed and and somehow the backups worked well enough.

There's nothing to do yet. They have to safe everything and get the equipment ready.

Sounded like it is going to be a while before they get images
Maybe we need to put LRO or other orbiters as a relay to improve communication.

But this is great. Beresheet, Hakuto, Luna, Slim, Peregrine, etc all failed in one way or another.

No private company has done this before. And no country has done it flawlessly since China's Yutu rover.

They didnt even confirm the thing didnt crash lmfao. They just kind of tried to make it sound like it probably did then ended the broadcast after congratulating themselves

sooo boring.. landing on the moon is something your dad would have done in the 60s.

Call me when there's a new moon that would be interesting.

Trying to land a rocket by remote control with nearly 3 seconds of lag sounds like a recipe for failure. Apollo 11 would have crashed as well if it had followed the automated landing sequence because it was heading straight for a boulder.
There are four lights.
Update: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wynBeg7BYr0

Tl;DW: Some numbskull left the physical safety lockout on the landing lidar system enabled. The flight team was able to kludge together an improvised lidar feed from one of the secondary payloads and integrate it into the lander's computer system in two hours , but the lander hit with too much lateral velocity and tipped over on its side.
