Was looking forward to this the last few days and just killing time all day today waiting for this. I was an avid watcher when he previously hosted. Dropped it afterwards. Caught Noah a few times and he was alright but it wasnt the same. Its been a shitshow after Noah with the guest hosts the times I tuned in. Hasnt even been on the air in recent months.

I never thought Stewart would ever do it again so Ill take just Mondays for the time it lasts. I agree this is a great return. Makes me smile having him back. Im hoping maybe some guest surprise appearances in the future from Colbert and Oliver. That might be too wishful though.

I felt it went pretty soft on Trump. I agree with his Biden coverage and juxtaposition of both candidates being old and pressing on the candidates to show the voters what they're capable of instead of the voters needing to overlook and justify.

However, the clip of Trump from the other day is his Pennsylvania thing? You can't just use the clip from the same conference where he says he wouldn't defend a country from Russia if they couldn't pay, where he wouldn't protect America's allies or interests. On your first show back with so many eyes on you to welcome you back and see what you're going to say, he made it about two old grandpas.

I remember the 2016 Indecision coverage and how much "can you believe this clownface von fuckstick?" comedy coverage they offered on Trump. I still wonder how much Trump being treated like a punchline rankled me as things got closer because no one thought he was going to win, and the post-count hangovers and disbelief and sullen realization that Trump got elected. That you even said at times you wished he got the nomination because he was endless amounts of material.

And the first show back, old man says Pennsylvania weird and doesn't understand magnets.

I recorded it and have to watch after work. I was never a daily watcher of the show but once a week I can do.

Yeah I have to agree and I'm disappointed in Jon

Nothing he said about Biden was wrong but actively ignoring Trump's routinely saying things that would end literally any other campaign in history is messed up.

Focusing solely on the age thing is both siding. It's like talking about the flaws on both sides of the American Civil War but actively refusing to bring up slavery.

It was kinda funny how Jordan Klepper sort of called him out for both-siderism later in the show, even if it was part of a bit.

Like I said on the TV board, that first segment was better than anything I ever saw from Trevor, at least from a comedy perspective.

Meanwhile Trump is consistently getting 60% of the vote, which isn't great.

But I digress. I dislike the "both sides are bad". Biden might have memory issues, but so does Trump. Trump also states that Russia should attack our NATO allies, and that he won't help out if Russia attacks them (even encouraging Russia to do so).

As Lawerence O'Donnel stated, Biden on his worst day is better than Trump on his best day.

Also it wasn't really Jon "both sidesing" the issue. Jon isn't a both sides kinda guy but he will question and/or call out Democrats and the party when something is a bit scuffed. During the whole segment about Biden's issues he juxtaposed it with Trump and it was mostly meant to call out Trumpers for railing against Biden while supporting someone that's mentally worse.

Just started reading Mockingjay for the first time. Third book spoilers

Peeta is in the capitol giving his first interview and is urging a cease-fire. This is Gale's reaction soon after.

Gale's expression darkens. "Peeta might have done a lot of damage tonight. Most of the rebels will dismiss what he said immediately, of course. But there are districts where the resistance is shakier. The cease-fire's clearly President Snow's idea. But it seems so reasonable coming out of Peeta's mouth."

Jon might have done a lot of damage last night. Most people who know how just bad Trump is will understand where he's coming from immediately. But there are millions who attentions have been shakier. The jokes seem so reasonable coming out of his mouth, but it equates two in age without anything else. It levels them out for no reason.
