So a straight up impeachment vote, no inquiry, no investigation? The hell?
Who?
So a straight up impeachment vote, no inquiry, no investigation? The hell?
they're voting to impeach him for not protecting the border while also voting against a border security funding bill
So a straight up impeachment vote, no inquiry, no investigation? The hell? It's been through the committees. Not much of a process though.
Homeland Secretary. The criticism of his handling of the border ranges from he does nothing to he's actively making it worse. The nerve to still go through with this after they rejected the Senate & Biden's attempt at border legislation is astounding, but they insist on making themselves out to be the dumbest and most tone deaf fucking people ever sent to Congress, so full-steam ahead, I guess.
You know this is all political theater to make the racists hard as a rock.
I agree with this, except to say that it is the voters they are courting who are dumb as rocks. Or racists. Or cultists. Or gullible propaganda swallowers. Or those who only want to see trolling instead of government and want to watch the world burn. Or all of the above.
All this to say: There is no Republican in government who is a genius. But they are doing their usual performative bullshit because it is exactly what moronic MAGA voters expect to see.
These leaders know exactly what they are doing, which makes it worse. Selling out their country, integrity and personal dignity for some votes and a little power. What a joke every single one of them are.
That's why I said "making themselves out to be", as in putting on the performance as such. Some of them legitimately are really fucking dumb, however by and large yeah it's just performance for their base.

Reminder: They're trying to impeach him for not securing the border despite the Biden administration apprehending a record number of illegal immigrants crossing the southern border in 2021, then breaking that record in 2022.Record apprehensions are an irrelevant point to bring up when migrants literally turn themselves in and they are then released into the US in record numbers.

Then you should support a border bill that actually addresses the main problem... funding.LOL. All Republicans are good for is pissing and moaning about their purported "issues" while simultaneously preventing all attempts to fix anything.

Truly the worst people. The scum of the fucking earth with zero redeeming qualities.

If you have a problem with that then you have a problem with the laws and regulations, not their applications. If only there was some bipartisan bill that would have addressed this. Does anyone know where we could find such a bill? Someone ask Senator Lankford if such a thing is even possible.
Then you should support a border bill that actually addresses the main problem... funding. The bill is alright in terms of border security, but it does not stop release into the US and in fact will expand alternative to detention, so it doesn't really help us in NYC. It provides us no funding or anything for services provided to the migrants.

Why should anybody give a damn about your probably faked numbers? The first part of the response was to point out that record apprehensions doesn't mean anything when they voluntarily get apprehended. People bring it up with border security and use that to make it sound like they're being caught and returned or something, but it's straight up disinformation. Migrants walk up and are apprehended and then most are released into the US in 24-72 hours for their court date.

They're being "voluntarily apprehended" because requesting asylum requires them to do so.Yeah, that's my point. You brought it up to show that border security is doing great because of all the apprehensions. But all record apprehensions shows is that they're letting in a record amount of people. It has nothing to do with security.
That they're released and given a distant court date is a problem with the system, not our enforcement (or lack thereof) of the law. The bipartisan bill would have, among other things, increased our system's capacity to process asylum claims at a more reasonable clip. Republicans shot it down because they don't want to fix the problem they'd rather campaign on.No it wouldn't. It adds zero new judges and just speeds up the initial screening and Title 42 type removal.

Once again democrats are at the mercy of the whims and figures and narratives of whatever the republicans want. Same reason shit like unemployment numbers never count under a democrat because... reasons. What?

They literally only have a 1 seat majority. These people are so fucking dumb that they keep just going full-steam ahead like they were when they had a 5 seat majority, which still got in the way of what they wanted.
All they do is continue to expose themselves as the jokes that they are.
Yeah, vote counting is part of legislating. Calling a vote without having every detail nailed down is scrotum brained. They can say they had "the balls" to do it, but it ends up being a stupid failure on a day when they had two others. Not a good look.
The bill is alright in terms of border security, but it does not stop release into the US and in fact will expand alternative to detention, so it doesn't really help us in NYC. It provides us no funding or anything for services provided to the migrants.Which pages are these? I skimmed through and didn't see your statistics cited.
We've been waiting almost 2 years for something to change here in NYC and we've been ignored and it's only gotten worst and most of that time, we had Title 42, which helped reduced things, yet was still overwhelming. This bill would likely end up bringing us back to Title 42 levels.
You can't keep releasing people into the country with no support from the feds. This is not the job of states, cities and charities, which are all overwhelmed already. Entire migrant families are starting to end up in the streets.

The numbers were to show that even if we're talking about border security, they're doing worse than ever before. 2019 and 2020 had only 150k and 300k.
