No, it's a remake. It's literally 3 years old.
I didn't expect GTA, and by linear I'm not complaining that it's not open world, I mean the mission structure itself: going from point A to point B engaging with generic cover-shooting and scripted cinematic sequences. There is just nothing remotely interesting or satisfying to it. I do like the driving well enough.
Sorry that wasn't meant to be an attack on you or anything. I just see a lot of people that go in expecting it to be like GTA. I enjoyed the linear structure, but I can see how it can get boring.
Mafia 3 has a much less linear story mission structure, but it's problem is that it gets really repetitive because you have to do the same activities over and over in order to unlock the next story segment.
