Kind of a continuation of my "Just watched the original Alien movie" topic that got purged. As a recap, finished all the Alien movies up through Covenant. Decided to give Predator a chance (also never watched that series fml), Predator 1 and 2 were pretty fun, AvP had some awesome moments, but AvP2 just bugged me.

1 - The whole thing was totally unnecessary. They show in AvP that the Predator can scan a body for the presence of a chestburster in like two seconds. Why did none of the Predators just do that to the body of the dead dude before they just put him on a slab out in the open on their ship? And how did a crew of Predators get bested by one alien?

2 - Why did only one Predator respond to the distress beacon of the ship? I'm imagining this dude chilling at home and his friend is like "oh fuck we hit some shit here's my ping on google maps". And the one that went was doing a clean-up/coverup operation? Like ... not a single other predator or the predator council were thinking "we need to fix this?"

3 - There were no cool heartfelt human x Predator moments like in the first movie, when Lex (or Rex or whatever her name was) bonds with the Predator and they hunt shit together. I was anticipating at least one moment towards the end when the humans helped out the Predator against the Alien/Predator hybrid. Like a token salvo of bullets as the helicopter flew away or something to give him a leg up.

4 - I get the government nuking the town, I don't get them taking care of the people who survived. It was just inconsistent and felt like a huge cop-out of an ending. I remember seeing another movie (or episode of a TV show) where a woman and a man survive an alien craft and end up landing next to a group of soldiers who are cleaning up the town and the soldiers just put bullets in them and throw them in with the rest of the corpses. Like that was what I was expecting here, especially when the daughter asked her mom if the monsters were gone.

Also the movie was dark. Not as bad as the reviews made it out to be, and I think the bigger problem was just the framing of the action overall. But it could have been a few lumens brighter.

Anyway moving on to Predators which I'm sure won't be too great (the opening scene is already a little strange) but once I get on a series I prefer to finish it out... except Halloween.

Predators was alright. Also don't forget Prey I think it's called (newest Predator movie out)

Also a cool thing I found out was Jean Claude van Damm was playing the original predator but quit?

Haha imagine predator doing the splits... or a roundhouse

Predators

Predators is great. 2nd best predator movie. Well, probably 3rd now since Prey was so great
The night brims with defiled scum, and is permeated by their rotten stench.
Just think. Now you're all set to hunt and kill to your heart's content.
It's one of the rare examples where the Asylum knockoff is way better than the original.

He was in the first suit which had a much more insectoid alien design. He was never in the final suit design that we all know and love.

According to him he wanted to be a Hollywood star, but somehow got the job as the Predator suit actor. Feeling that this would do his career no favors since you couldn't see his face, he did an purposely bad performance to get himself fired. *shrug*

The silver lining is that while they hustled to recast a suit actor, they took the time to redesign the monster.

That's awesome ...

Anyways after Predators rewatch .... they could of had two better options "than serial rapist* with a shank and a "doctor" with a paralyzing scalpel but otherwise awesome.

AvPR could have been fun if there was more Wolf killing aliens/humans and the movie wasn't so dark. As it is now, any action is hard to see.
Scarlet Arkard/Yojimbo
It was a fun popcorn flick.

It's the worst Predator movie for me. AvP wasn't great either, but it had a few pretty great scenes. Requiem doesn't even have that going for it.

On the upside, it establishes pretty early on that it's not going to be a super serious movie. When bullies are taking keys and throwing them in the sewer, it's not laying the groundwork to be the most high stakes movie in either series.
I don't believe in belts. There should be no ranking system for toughness.
I'm down for a Predator vs Arnold again

Plot twist. ITs the terminator Arnold.

The suit also looked MUCH different. You can see the before effects of it a few times around here, should be starting at the 6:30 mark.

Avpr is lack luster. Predators is awesome though, sadly the one after that isnt good by any means (the last modern day one with the super predators?). Edit: movie is the predator no wonder I couldnt recall the name

Prey is the best easily and there is a sequel in the works I believe

I don't know, I can't put it lower than The Predator. That movie was utter fucking dog shit.

It's funny though, aside from those 2, the Predator franchise hasn't actually faired to badly. First is a fucking obvious classic, but 2, Prey, and Predators are all good and AvP 1 isn't TOO bad.

I have The Predator as second worst, so it's still not a glowing review. But yeah, the rest are pretty decent

the predator is the worst by a fucking mile. "I want to steal your autism" is not a good plot point regardless of the movie.

2 is my personal favorite.

Hit a wall with Predators, it's one of those movies I've started half a dozen times and keep falling asleep every time. I think tonight is the night though... Not that I have high hopes. I think the premise is already stupid as hell, Predators can already hunt humans and shit on Earth so why introduce a gimmick where they abduct people in broad daylight with tons of witnesses just to hunt them on a different planet? It's not really scary or exciting or anything, just a dud.

Oh snap I did not expect Laurence Fisburne to show up. But anyone who appears in Predator gear and says "I'm the one who survived, I'm the one you don't fuck with" is most likely also going to be the one to eat shit before this movie ends.

Only took an hour but Predators finally picked up...

Saw a lot of hate for The Predator and I'm sure it's even worse. I'm already annoyed by it - why do I need to have an "FX Now" subscription or a live TV subscription to watch a movie that released in 2018...

Final take on Predators - it was meh. Had a couple good twists to it, but ultimately nothing is resolved, you realize they're probably just going to die on the island since they haven't even had a chance to rest yet and the new "season" has already begun, and they only survived up until that point anyway because there were half a dozen other people to sponge up damage and kill the other two predators.

OK and just started The Predator and already hate it, too much CGI, now the Predator not only looks excessively clunky and stupid but also entirely fake, too. Great.

I remember AVPR being marketed as a movie directed by a couple of fans.

That's probably right in the worst way. Just a terrible movie that tried to define itself with shock and gore instead of making a good movie.
A Fallen Mascot
Predators have yakuza VS Yautja.

That makes it awesome.
