AvP Requiem felt like a wash (spoilers for AvPR and all prior Predator movies)

Current Events

Kind of a continuation of my "Just watched the original Alien movie" topic that got purged. As a recap, finished all the Alien movies up through Covenant. Decided to give Predator a chance (also never watched that series fml), Predator 1 and 2 were pretty fun, AvP had some awesome moments, but AvP2 just bugged me.

1 - The whole thing was totally unnecessary. They show in AvP that the Predator can scan a body for the presence of a chestburster in like two seconds. Why did none of the Predators just do that to the body of the dead dude before they just put him on a slab out in the open on their ship? And how did a crew of Predators get bested by one alien?

2 - Why did only one Predator respond to the distress beacon of the ship? I'm imagining this dude chilling at home and his friend is like "oh fuck we hit some shit here's my ping on google maps". And the one that went was doing a clean-up/coverup operation? Like ... not a single other predator or the predator council were thinking "we need to fix this?"

3 - There were no cool heartfelt human x Predator moments like in the first movie, when Lex (or Rex or whatever her name was) bonds with the Predator and they hunt shit together. I was anticipating at least one moment towards the end when the humans helped out the Predator against the Alien/Predator hybrid. Like a token salvo of bullets as the helicopter flew away or something to give him a leg up.

4 - I get the government nuking the town, I don't get them taking care of the people who survived. It was just inconsistent and felt like a huge cop-out of an ending. I remember seeing another movie (or episode of a TV show) where a woman and a man survive an alien craft and end up landing next to a group of soldiers who are cleaning up the town and the soldiers just put bullets in them and throw them in with the rest of the corpses. Like that was what I was expecting here, especially when the daughter asked her mom if the monsters were gone.

Also the movie was dark. Not as bad as the reviews made it out to be, and I think the bigger problem was just the framing of the action overall. But it could have been a few lumens brighter.

Anyway moving on to Predators which I'm sure won't be too great (the opening scene is already a little strange) but once I get on a series I prefer to finish it out... except Halloween.
