I remember this was a thing back then and they were acting like he was just a h"transitional" president. What was the point of signalling that and why the change of mind?
They really want Newsome but he cannot withstand prolonged scrutiny nationally so they are just biding their time.
They're just "Biden" their time?haha
tbh the Democrats don't have anyone this year to match Biden's name recognition, and no Sanders-like figure has stepped up to excite the progressive wing of the party. Sadly, as long as that's the case, Biden probably has the best chance of anyone.Nailed it.
Hopefully Biden does not make the mistake of having Harris as his running mate again
What happens if Trump ends up losing the primary? Not likely to happen but would be hilarious if Biden only ran to defeat Trump and he ends up going against DeSantis or Nikki. Democrats wouldn't be able to use 1/6 or old age attacks if that happened.
What happens if Trump ends up losing the primary?
Even with her in the background Harris is absolutely despised by the progressive wing of the party and progressive media too bad Biden won't dump her for someone elseAre these the same progressives who echo the right wing talking points about her record as an Attorney General? You know, the ones who misrepresent what her job actually was and what she was legally required and allowed to do?

You know, the ones who misrepresent what her job actually was and what she was legally required and allowed to do?the groups that have an ax to grind against her are the young turks and their associated channels and those are the loudest progressives with some of their fanbase even having their videos in their signatures here
One person used the word 'transitional' and Biden himself never publicly pledged to only run for one term. The article even says his thoughts on running a second time went back and forth during the campaign. And the fact this article was written before he was elected is probably a big part of why.Why the back and forth?

I assume they're holding the primaries as a matter of routine since it seems like Biden will win it pretty much uncontested.
"Transitional" as in "helping the US put MAGA behind it."That's not going to happen even after Biden's second term.
That hasn't happened yet.
What happened to Trump leaving the country and never hearing from him again if Biden won?I don't know, but I wish that happened. Maybe he'll be in prison before election time. He'll still be loud and obnoxious, but at least he'll be where he belongs.
I think an assumption was also that after a defeat Trump might skulk away into the darkness of irrelevance. That didn't happen. Without that, the idea of the incombant stepping down is just handing the presidency back to Trump.

Are you going to answer any of the criticisms of your OP I raised? I can't speak for 2019/2020 Biden but I imagine the reasons listed in the article were why he at times he was considering and other times wasn't.It wasn't a sure thing like I thought, but it was definitely a consideration which I think is still noteworthy. For example from the article:
Another top Biden adviser put it this way: Hes going into this thinking, I want to find a running mate I can turn things over to after four years but if thats not possible or doesnt happen then Ill run for reelection. But hes not going to publicly make a one term pledge.
Biden is only running for reelection to prevent Trump from a hostile takeover. You guys should be grateful because if Bidrn steps down this term, no Democrat can defeat Trump's incumbent advantage.Trump lost in 2020, that means he's not the incumbent.
One good thing about Trump running is every single Democrat will unite to vote against him.
You notice it was never Biden saying that, but only ever "advisers" who said it.Problem is no Democrat has stepped up to take Biden's place as frontrunner. Newsom might be ready after Biden's 2nd term.

Biden himself never directly said that. So it was just bullshit his advisers were pushing to get more people onboard with the campaign. We are still decades away from a female American president. Trump would clearly destroy any female running against him in this sexist political climate.
Also:
He can't turn it over to Harris in this political climate.

Funny enough, it feels like Harris kinda disappeared in the background once she became the VP. Nowhere near as polarizingLyndon Johnson (JFK's vice president) once described the Vice Presidency as worth "a warm bucket of piss".
Hillary won the popular vote. I don't think we are that far away.Harris could be President if Biden dies of old age of course.
