in the video game industry. She be selling same albums but with one or two new songs in each version, offering limited time to buy songs then can't officially buy or stream them anywhere, etc. People worship her including me though but if you look at the big picture she's smart and does this predatory thing of getting money but no one cares because she's Taylor Swift

It isn't breaking news that the music industry is complete trash and ruined by greed. It is essentially the same direction the video game industry is heading in. Any industry that the corporations take a stranglehold over will soon turn to trash.

Before streaming was a thing, artists used to sell their songs all the time in the form of singles and albums. They had a limited availability too.

You'll see motivational pictures about working hundred hour weeks/Well, it only applies to those who are operating at a really basic level

Exclusive songs have been a staple and bane of collectors forever. Plenty of artists with bs like having a random Japan only special edition album with more songs. Also streaming services have regional issues a lot, for example there are bands who have part of their albums available on the EU Apple Music store and others on the US Apple Music store, meaning nobody gets the entire set.

She is not the one doing this. She has an entire cohort of people all running the Taylor Swift Machine. It makes millions of dollars a year and provides everyone a salary. She might not even have the freedom to tell execs not to do this. She might not care. Who knows. Her main role is to provide the vocals, do the public appearances, keep up the persona, and perform concerts, it's possible that literally everything else is other people's jobs.

i dont see a problem with what shes doing

people do not consume music the same as they once did 30 years ago, its mostly streaming/downloading and what constitutes as an album now is something like 1500 streams per song or however its measured. artists and bands have to come up with new ways to generate revenue outside of concerts and merchandise and if this is another way to do so then good on her and others

the fans will speak with their wallets, if they dont want to buy it something because its too expensive or they dont feel its worth it, then they wouldnt pay for it, its just that simple

Artists have been doing this for literal decades.

"Remastered" albums that add one or two tracks that weren't on the original album.

Shit, a "Greatest Hits" album is basically just a band selling you the same songs they already sold you in a different package.
