Like you are playing Skyrim and you get attacked by a bandit. You kill him and you're all like, oh cool armor and you just peel it off his corpse, pop it on you and call it a day. I feel like it's even worse with clothing you look off of bodies. At a minimum wouldn't you want to like clean that shit off?

Alls I know is I'm tired of the common uncommon rare epic legendary tier system
Welcome to the Twilight Zone
Why would I when I already have good armor? I'm not a hoarder and an encumbrance system will prevent me from doing that to most corpses anyway.
Allergic to bull****.
I like games that have scenes where you call out bandits/criminals for looting bodies....before you loot a body.

Rimworld factors all this stuff in. If one of your colonists sees a corpse they get a debuff that stacks for each corpse they see until you eventually bury them, unless your colonist is a psychopath and then it doesn't matter to them. Plus if you strip them you can sell the clothes to traders, but if any of your colonists wear them they get a debuff for wearing clothes that were on a corpse. Of course, in true gameplay fashion the solution is to strip the body before finishing them off, but nobody said the game was perfect.

Sure the taking of items that furthers your survival chances is the heavy stuff not the fact that you just murdered countless people.

Point being, if psychological toll was taken into account your character would either be a complete psychopath or crippled emotionally to the point that you could no longer function.

They got magic that detects if the item is stolen or not, they probably got autoclean as well.
Now why are animals dropping equipment, coins and gems?

Well, youre looking at it from where we're at in society now.

In Skyrim most people are one failed crop, one sneeze, one bad look at a bandit, or one bad storm away from complete ruin or death. They are trying to put everything to use and its not as taboo as it is here. Dead people aint taking a pair of boots or a sword with them when they die
The night brims with defiled scum, and is permeated by their rotten stench.
Just think. Now you're all set to hunt and kill to your heart's content.
I have a party member in BG3 wearing some fairly distinctive armor taken from a boss's corpse and I'm still walking around the encampment all willy nilly despite the fact that her allies/subordinates should know that the armor didn't belong to my elven vampire lol. Like, my group should be KoS but nope.

That's why I make sure to always kill them in a way to where their blood splatter goes away from the body instead of all over it.

Now if only WoW characters could remember not to mutilate the head when tasked with collecting heads.

Or that things with teeth tend to have more than one.
