I think one of the best movie vs book changes is that Hammond actually seems passionate about dinosaurs in the movie. it's not *only* a business.

Now I want to listen to an audiobook of Jurassic Park
I personally prefer book Hammond. Movie Hammond is a bit too much of a kindly old grandpa.

I like the part that the kid had to climb a 20ft foot fence because he couldn't fit through a a child sized gap.

Book Hammond was 100 times better, and actually made sense for his character.
Confirmed unbiased

Yeah, Genaro definitely received a downgrade. Virtually all of the other characters were improved upon by the movie.

Didnt know this was an actual GUI or whatever it is. It looks so impractical.
It was the first movie I watched when I got my home theater system. The bass from the dino steps and roars made it a whole new experience.
This is where cool people write stuff.

Book Hammond is basically a villain.
Nah, no basically about it. He is the villain of the book.

oh yeah book hammond is definitely a villain. the movie kinda had to change it though to give the sense that the park could possibly be a good thing.

I like to believe that back in the 90s a guy like Hammond just wouldn't understand how important the programming part of running a semi-automated park like that would be. Sam Jackson is obviously a smart scientist and he was basically just watching a monitor most of the time and had no idea how any of the programming worked

I want to say that novel Hammond is too passive to be a villain. He's more greedy and negligent than he is actively evil. But the novel does have that one passing mention that he blackmailed Nedry into continuing to work for him after deliberately underselling the workload he would be responsible for.

If you take that out of the equation, Nedry would have left the company rather than shutting off the power and leaving everyone to die.
Oh and for anyone who owns an old version of the movie I highly recommend the UHD version. Its totally worth it, the upscaling they did is amazing

Remember when the special effects held up better than other films a decade later.
You gonna do something or just stand there and bleed?
I always preferred the novel. The film has that Spielberg spectaclewith the fucking Brachiosaur, Welcome..to Jurassic Park scene STILL making my eyes well upbut the book is the right kind of gonzo, late-80s-early 90s techno-trash.

I may have asked this already but what's your home theater system setup?

Onkyo TX-NR696 receiver, Polk signature series 7.1 with Klipsch 12" sub. Nothing too crazy but it gets the job done.
